This Russian Black Desert trailer is worryingly appealing

I should have learned my lesson after the debacle that was ArcheAge, but a part of me is still somewhat excited to play the western version of Black Desert. Trailers like the new one released in Russia certainly don’t help, since they show off a considerable amount of eye candy and eye-popping open world vistas, all while omitting the grind, the ganks, and the godawful cash shop, to name just three unpleasant realities of free-to-play imports.

For now, though, ignorance is bliss because it is an awesome trailer! You can view it after the break.

ToyFuzion It’s not a gank fest nor cash shop heavy, but way to generalize before actually looking at the game.

Dystopiq No it was a one time event that allowed you to pay to buy an item that would let you break down and destroy expensive costumes to increase your fail stacks. The way enchanting works is each time you fail, you get +1 to the next enchant. You need quite a lot of those +’s or “fail stacks” to have any decent increase. You’re likely to fail most of the time anyway. Aside from the fact that those items no longer exist, it’s far easier to increase your fail stacks just by grinding in game.

Sirly Leilonii dongs

Regarding the revive item, like I said, there’s no point to using that.

As for the fashion gear having stats, it’s not really a problem. You put it in a cosmetic slot and it does things like help you level faster or increase your horse training faster. It doesn’t have anything important like crit or attack speed. And with how ugly most of the gear looks I’d be buying a costume just for looks anyway.

“take a look then how to enchant gear, cash shop items can be used for that. Learn then talk.”

This is not correct. There was an event for a week or so a while back that had these but they do not exist in the cash shop anymore. All they did even was increase your fail stack by 1, which does basically nothing. You still have a high chance to fail your enchant anyway. And to even do that, you had to sacrifice $60 cash shop costumes which nobody would ever do for such extreme RNG. Even if they did sell these, only a fool would buy them. It’s far easier to increase your fail stacks in game using cheap items you earn via grinding mobs (or buy with the money from grinding mobs).

“Scrolls for bind gear/weapons and can not be dropped, once again do u remember how suposed pvp was in this game? % chance to drop an item from inventory, thats mean you pay? you dont drop anything.”

This is barely English but I’ll try to decipher. Scrolls for binding gear? What? That doesn’t exist. You wear gear and it gets bound to you like anything else. Dropping items from inventory? No that doesn’t happen unless you PK people a lot and thus have a lot of negative karma which is nearly impossible to get back, so most players don’t do it at all because you’d have to just remake your character at some point.

You haven’t even played the game and keep whining about cash shop problems that just don’t exist. If you had a legitimate complaint I’d be happy to talk about it because I don’t like shitty cash shops either. But so far you’re just spewing nonsense. Until you’ve actually played it, you don’t know what you’re talking about.

MChrome __Pete___ What UI issues? You can modify a lot of it and even turn off certain pieces.

dantetifosi Nobody plays or care about Marvel Heroes. Not the best comparison lol. A more popular game perhaps would be a good example of a good cash shop.

__Pete___ I’ve had a similar experience playing on KR, though i haven’t been able to play much. The english patch is still rudimentary at best so i can’t really understand most of the game, but what’s there is pretty fun.

I am hopeful though that they will fix the UI issues for the western release. It’s horridly messy on KR with no real way of fixing it (that i’ve found).

I’d still like to try the game, but I’m remaining doubtful it will actually have any kind of long term appeal for me.

Still it could be an MMO equivalent of a one-night stand lol

jefreahard Gottphoenix why did these things being unclear not stop you from hyping and from ridiculizing the notion of it being p2win in the first place ?

Gottphoenix Yeah, right, because I knew exactly how the cash shop worked and how it would affect the economy during launch week. Good job leaving out all the critical articles relating to AA and the cash shop that I’ve published since those quotes you cherry-picked, though!

Just the total and utter disappointment with ArcheAge alone is keeping me from taking much interest in this title…
I haven’ heard enough about the content and DEPTH of the game to really sell me.
I LOVE the graphics quality, vistas, etc,  but yet to be convinced by the PvP and PvE content.
