Wakfu explains Companies and the foundations behind its new Hero system

Three nutjobs are better than one.

Why control just one character when you can control three? That’s the core of Wakfu‘s new Heroes system, and the latest development blog explains that it seems like a simple concept while being very difficult to actually implement. Companies are the game’s way of adapting to the demands of letting players control three characters from a single account, and while they offer both power and rewards, they also have restrictions.

Players may have one company per account, and a single character is selected as the leader of that company. All other characters need to be part of the same nation and guild as the leader (or be unguilded) in order to work together under the new system. This is also done with an eye toward keeping things balanced in GvG and national PvP systems. Read the full diary for more details on what players can expect from the mechanical side.

“As indicated in the previous Devblog, the price of the service will be recurrent and of a limited duration (somewhat like the booster packs and subscriptions currently available). You will have the choice between 1 slot and 2 slots of characters for a duration of 7 days or 30 days.”

Meh thought that it might be like just pay once for slot but oh well, guess that my hype disappearing…

Might be kinda sad that I’m as excited as I am about a feature which essentially helps make the game less social, but if its more fun that is a good step too.

Wow. This is the answer I desperately looked for in beta. It was tough trying to stay on top with people multiboxing 4 or 5 characters at a time. It’s too late for me, but maybe there are still others who will take advantage of this…

Too bad Ankama has had their payment system broken for months. Can’t use Paypal, can’t use a debit/credit card…. but hey, you can use a Subway gift card!!!

And I was already eyeing Wakfu in my steam library wanting to give it another go. Now this makes it harder to resist.

This sounds like exactly what I want out of Wakfu, but it will all come down to the price.
I would gladly pay their original sub fee to play as a three-man squad, but if it ends up being more than that, i don’t think I can justify that expense.
Especially since you can easily multi box this game already, with the devs’ blessing, and the only cost is the annoyance of alt+tabbing.
