Camelot Unchained shows off terrain, new animation vid

Is it Friday already? It feels like it because Mark Jacobs has checked in with a Camelot Unchained afternoon update. Today, he reports on progress with the RvR fantasy title’s networking and client code optimization, as well as improvements and additions to the UI courtesy of the “Mod Squad.”

Jacobs also mentions a new build which is being prepped for next month’s DragonCon in Atlanta, as well as an update on the game’s procedurally-generated terrain system complete with an unaltered screenshot. Finally, there’s a six-minute video in today’s blurb that focuses on CU’s melee combat animations. You can view it after the break.

Aww you noticed my moss on the tree. I even put some small lichen and ferns. I hope we can still do those little nuances for the whole project.

Mark, who is making the soundtrack for this game? Do you have someone  in-house doin the music? I would would love for Knut Hagen, the guy that made the soundtrack for Age of Conan to make music for Camelot unchained:) He  is awsome composer

Really liking the animation and the role it plays in gameplay.  Never been a fan of scrolling combat text above characters.

SteveJackn111 – Just wait.  Yes it is in early development and therefore visually appealing graphics are not high on the priority list at the moment.  But, as one who has been watching from the beginning, I have seen glimpses of what is to come and it is visually impressive.  From the model of the female Viking to the fungus growing on the trunk of a live tree.  All very encouraging.  Even though it was just a glimpse it was very encouraging of what is coming later in the games development.

So, hang in there you will not be disappointed.

SteveJackn111 Because this is Alpha testing a custom engine. This video reveals the FIRST animations that haven’t even entered the Alpha build yet. There are wiki’s on how software development typically works for games to educate you or you could simply follow how this game develops in order to learn. We are witnessing the very moments upgraded systems are entering this game.

I like what I see from the game but so far the graphics look absolutely terrible. It looks like a graphics engine from 15 years ago
