Right now, you can move your character around servers in Lord of the Rings Online for free. You’ll need to take advantage of that very soon, though; the free transfers are a bit of a promotion now that the game’s server transfer system has gotten some upgrades, and the free service is being turned off again on Friday. If you’ve always wanted to see what another server would be like, now’s your chance to do so for free.
The server transfers are in anticipation of the server merge and shutdown happening later this year, with transfers off of the closing worlds expected to start sometime in mid-September to early October. While the developers will not allow free transfers after the fact, they are working on a way to let the affected players transfer between potential new server destinations. Players should keep a close eye on the procedure, but if you have some lingering transfer you’d like to make first, do it today for free.
Sheesh, what’s up Turbine. Please can you get it together, please? First the transfer button wasn’t there, then it was (see post below) but there wasn’t a server/world for me to select in order to transfer and now the whole transfer button is gone! Seriously, I think I should just give up.
melissaheather Looks like Brandywine will only be offering off-world transfers for now. Maybe after they upgrade their server hardware? Meanwhile: come to Landroval! :)
Free transfers will be returning. This is just a “beta” period where they are gathering data on how the transfer will go.

Can you move TO Brandywine? Â I had read you couldn’t, or at least yet.
Well it “almost” works. It’s an improvement, at least I can “see” a transfer button” now. The pop up window is blank though so I can’t select my world/server to transfer from.
So is turbine done with creating new MMOs ? They have their current ones sliding towards maintenance mode. They had the failed MOBA and are working on a mobile game. Is warner Bros taking them out of this segment?
mattaui My Windfola characters aren’t eligible yet either. Strangely, my characters on Crickhollow, which isn’t closing, and a Brandywine character that I had forgotten about are eligible for transfer.
I’ve managed to snag my character names on my new server now.
