World of Warcraft fans continue to eagerly await the release of the Warcraft movie trailer in a couple of months. If they — or you — can’t hold out that long, there’s the option to check out 40 seconds of shaky, grainy footage that was leaked by a Russian site.

“The epic phenomenon will become a worldwide event,” the teaser trailer promises amid shots of griffins, Orcs, war, magic, gigantic cities and people reaching out to grab hands. If you want to be spoiled, you can watch the footage here.

Hmm…ok.  It’s only about 4-5 years too late for me to care.

Higgens WoW has always had great cinematics for their games but the gameplay never seems to live up to it’s hype.  I believe you nail it with the smell of this movie.  Something tells me it’s going to be a huge big budget, overhyped mess.

I still write hate mail about how they ruined the hobbit. Dwarf on elf romance arc? Ugh.

It’s impossible not to think of this movie as being the best part of a decade late.
Epic Phenomenon?  Yes, it was, but that was from Vanilla through to Wrath.  WoW was a phenomenon then – one of the most recognised gaming IPs in the world, and every story about this movie in the non-gaming media could have thrown around a lot of big numbers to show the game itself in the best possible light.
Now?  The only records WoW sets now is for sub drops per quarter.  It’s long past its glory days, even if it’s still too big to die quickly, like a dinosaur.
Oh and for anyone who says this is about “Warcraft” rather than “World of Warcraft”… that’s not a distinction that’s going to be drawn by 99% of the prospective audience of this movie.
Ah well, don’t mind me.  I’m likely just grumpy because all too often these days when a movie screen is filled top to bottom with CGI with barely a real element visible I just find it all a bit busy and uninviting.  I must be getting old…

ManastuUtakata MorpayneRADIO You should probably remind just about EVERY WoW fan in existence, that WARCRAFT was a thing way before they became fans of World of..

Not to mention the movie is not about WoW. but based on the Warcraft IP. Unless EQ franchise spawned from hugely popular RTS games, then big name Hollywood producers would understandably balk at the “Ever who?” Just saying.

That argument was over when WoW broke the 500k sub cap.
