Guild Wars 2 overhauls WvW guild objective system

Guilds will have a lot more to do in world vs. world encounters when Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns launches next month. ArenaNet posted a new dev diary stating that the team has overhauled the guild claiming system to give player organizations more strategic options.

By claiming an objective, guilds can choose from several options to upgrade that structure to provide additional benefits. More benefits can be gained by employing tactics, which activate temporary effects that can make the difference on the larger battlefield. The devs will go into more detail about the guild objective overhaul in tomorrow’s livestream.

Some players will be able to test these changes out next week, as ArenaNet is scheduling a limited-run WvW Borderlands stress test for September 8th through the 10th. The studio said that it will be opening up the test to even more applicants, although it will not be a public event.

Necromonger Guardian is basically all healing or support. Water ele is great at healing. There are also warrior support builds.  Every character heals themselves and others to a certain extent (maybe not thieves), you should be able to find a build you like.

GW2 doesn’t force people to play in the trinity. That doesn’t mean you can’t be a healer.  It just means you need to build your character that way.  And probably avoid speed runs in the dungeons.

All this mmo was missing was a healer i could play.

It adds so much more depth to pvp then AoE zerg trains.

Gues its a lost cause to ask for it, but i love playing healing classes :(

Anet is one of the poster children for announcing “This is gonna be like XYZ” and then it not being that way.

So rather than just naively taking their word for it for the umpteenth time, and then being let down… again, instead… im gonna make a funny joke about it on a forum that isnt even an official GW2 forum.

DugFromTheEarth You should really read the blog post. Some of the things they are adding are going to severely slow the flipping speed, and hinder the people who flipped it. Basically you’re complaining about camp flipping and how this update wont work, when this update is bringing in things to battle camp flipping.

Roflstomp Guild, “Ok everyone, we just took this objective. Lets upgrade it and get the benefits from doing so.”… 30 seconds later, “Ok, regroup and move out to the next objective”

3 minutes later….
Lolcopter Guild, “Ok everyone, we just took this objective from Roflstomp. Lets upgrade it and get the benefits from doing so….”

Somehow…I dont think they guilds are really going to care much (similar to now) about these benefits or upgrades. Sure, they will do it, but the turnover rate makes things like this totally pointless in GW2. Its been one of the main complaints of guilds since LAUNCH. Daoc got it right, but Anet seems to think playing hot potato with objectives in WvW is the best way to play.

CENSORED: – COMMENT REMOVED Anet official distraction marketing bot activated: “Look here!! Our WvW has HUNDREDS of players battleing each other at the same time. OOooooooh. Aaaaahhhhh!”

I want them to encourage defending towers. Right now they’re just things to capture. No one really defends them.

This is one of the first things I’ve been really excited about in the HoT announcements.  I mean the masteries system seems neat but kinda gimmicky, raids just aren’t my thing though I’ll try ’em for sure but some more shifts in WvW sound great!

Sylzer RiccardoTavano Siphaed True, let’s hope so :P
Still I found that for now this was the best course of action for now.
First they gave a “progression” for WvW with the masteries, now they’re giving a new purpose to both guild and roles, plus a new level of gameplay for atk and defense.
They’re adding a new map too with a meaningful gameplay instead of the garbage we got now…honestly before the stuff i mentioned I would love to see a new EB, maybe it coming with all the stuff i mentioned before…EB is the most ridicule map ever, i mean…red keep is always at super advantage…you can even treb the SM. Plus now it’s just so small and unfitting compared to the other maps.
I say it was the best course of action because, imho, it would be pointless to make rewards and stuff much better, when the gameplay behind it is so bland. It’s kinda like how dungeons are now, lol.
That said let’s hope for a big WvW release some time after HoT :P …Even with the next expansion is fine, I mean…we got borderlands and all those guild upgrades now. Next one can be EB + rewards :D. Let’s just hope that it’s not too far away ;P
