SWTOR is changing operations in Fallen Empire

Yesterday we found out that BioWare is changing Star Wars: The Old Republic’s conquest system with next month’s Knights of the Fallen Empire expansion. Today, community manager Eric Musco has followed up with another forum post that details the tweaks in store for operations when the new content launches.

In a nutshell, the devs will remove nightmare mode Eternity Vault and nightmare mode Karagga’s Palace for Fallen Empire. Unique drops previously found in the nightmare modes will now drop in hard mode. The timed run titles for nightmare mode will no longer be earnable, and nightmare mode achievements will be moved to a new archive section of the game’s achievement screen and can no longer be earned after the expansion launch. In short, if you’re one of those people who has to have every achievement, you’d better get busy!

ColdinT camelotcrusade Which is kind of funny when you think about it. They’re increasing the level on all ops to 65 for the expansion… which means giving everything more health and having everything deal more damage.

It’s a PIA at times. I’ve had issues with things flickering or actions delayed. loading screens that take for ever an my machine is a good one.

With the new movies coming up and reading some of the new novels etc I’d actually enjoy reupping my account and just mucking around.

The thing that holds me back is twice have tried this , and both times I had odd almost micro-stuttering for lack of a better word , on two different high end machines that I did not have when the game launched. I’ve read others say they’ve seen the same thing , sometimes described as lag , stuttering , but the best description I’ve seen is micro-stuttering as it’s almost like very small split second hitching at times.

Going to look on the forums some , just curious if anyone else has seen this or heard of a fix.

Sorenthaz  Not altogether. They said in a previous Q&A that any operations that don’t have nightmare modes today, meaning current ops without it and all future ops after KOTFE, never will get it. But operations that have it today, other than EV and KP, will keep it.

camelotcrusade They said that EV and KP did not have “real” nightmare modes because all they did on those first two was jack up the health and tighten the enrage timers. So now they feel like these are just “slightly troubling dream modes,” that should not give you the same loot as the real nightmare mode ops, once everything is upleveled to 65.

camelotcrusade The main reason seems to be that Nightmare Mode was just the same fights, but the mobs had more health and did more damage. The other Nightmare modes add a bit more mechanical differences.

So they’re removing nightmare mode entirely?  That seems really strange unless they want more people to have access to the best gear for less effort.
