Mythros builds an MMO out of Minecraft

We’ve certainly been witnessing a rise of Minecraft-inspired MMOs over the past year, including Trove and SkySaga. Now there’s an MMO that actually uses Minecraft as the backbone of its game: Mythros.

Mythros is a free-to-play title that predominately focuses on social interaction, although it purports to have plenty of PvE, PvP, crafting, and player housing to enjoy as well. Currently the title is in a non-public pre-alpha state. Players can buy a package that will allow access in the game’s upcoming alpha and beta tests, however.

Curious? You can check out Mythros’ “journey so far” trailer after the jump!

Looks cool, will check it out in the future. Just wanted to say that this isn’t the first Minecraft MMO, as the thread made it seem; just to name one other one, Wynncraft, which has been around for a long time. Not trying to detract from the qualifications, or unique aspects that the game will offer, or accuse anyone of anything, or even insult the server, but just pointing out that it isn’t the first, and it shouldn’t necessarily get extra attention because of that claim. :D But definitely interested to see more on this.

Mythros Sorry for the obvious trolling, I was doing it for funsies and the more drinks I had the more I got carried away. Best of luck.

WoOpin Lack of response to this question has me more worried I will pass until they actually release anything :)

Yeah, wasn’t meant as a knock against you guys. I got the EQ vibe from watching the video. Nothing wrong with dated graphics if the game is fun. :)

So when is Alpha release? I noticed on the forums it says a Summer Alpha release is this going to be next year or this year as Summer in the USA ends on Sept 22nd. I refuse to dump more money into something unless there is actually something to do with the money dumped. Being burned by Dungeon Realms has made me a little more cautious.

Mythros Pedge Jameson Some trolls are just too obvious and not worth taking the bait . Most people here actually appreciate any developer that stops by and answers questions about their game.

Pedge Jameson paragonlostinspace Mythros All your posts in under this article have been nothing more than trolling. Grow up.

Pedge Jameson Mythros  They would not, by any means, be the first… nor the first to note that MoP talked about something written about MoP and come back to thank them for linking to the article.
If people were to counter you in kind, they could talk about how you just looked around for a random article to troll.  It wouldn’t be fair to you, and it isn’t fair to them.  As much as I may not be thrilled about certain things (I’m way beyond burnt out on blocky) I don’t feel that it is right to insinuate some underhanded deal here.  Maybe you have some evidence that there is more going on you would care to share with us, rather than just seeming a little… in need of a snickers.
*Gently sets down the candy bar, just in case.*

Mythros paragonlostinspace Robert80  I agree that you look to have done some impressive things.  The textures do look impressive, and I do wish you well on this.
I just see the tons of games that all want to be ‘blocky’ to play off this, and it has hit overload outside of MMO space.  It got old for me long ago, so my response is probably a little harsher than it should be when I see one.
So… just know it isn’t you, it’s my frustration with the trend.  :D

Janio2 We’re changing so much! Think of the experience as more like your traditional MMO. You’ll be questing, leveling, going through dungeons, forming guilds, etc. Combat, the interface, and almost all graphics are getting a total overhaul.
