As we reported last week, Guild Wars 2’s Mordrem invasion had a rough go of it as players experienced bugs and other issues with the lead-up event to Heart of Thorns. While some of the community expected ArenaNet to lengthen the event or rerun it, the studio confirmed that it will be shutting it down as scheduled today.
“At this time, we are not going to extend the event, nor do we have plans at this time to repeat it, either amended or in its current form,” Forum Communications Team Lead Gaile Gray posted. She also pleaded for constructive criticism over the invasion: “I understand that some of you are pretty ‘hot under the collar’ about the event. But please try to give us ideas we can work with — that’s to everyone’s benefit.”
ArenaNet said that players impacted by the loot reward bug should be receiving their goods via in-game mail.
So this is just the random zone invasions and nothing related to the Silverwastes chain of meta events right? If that’s the case then it’s no big loss because as far as I could tell you didn’t get much for doing the invasions anyway.

…a politically astute friend of mine refers to this as priming the pinhead vote. I’ll leave that to sit there while everyone else has gone to bed. <3
SoMuchMass I know you enjoy trolling the GW2 articles from time to time but that doesn’t mean your barbs are without valid points of criticism.Â
So much of this event was a copy & paste mix of earlier ideas with new art. The main problem came when they took a playtime/reward structure of a 2 week event & applied it to an only 4 day event.
I bet there was serious discussion of puling the plug on the whole event immediately on Friday but decided that would be worse.
ManastuUtakata breetoplay zandog Like donald trump. because no matter how hiorrid what you say is, if you say it sincerely. some group of people cheer you on for telling it like it is >_>
Quincha well according to the reports they did fix some of the problems with the event, but people bitched because they expected ArenaNet to extend the event to give players more time to reap the rewards.Â
My response to you wasn’t about those flaws, but rather your complaint about them conveniently cancelling the next stage of the event. You seem to think that ArenaNet is chickening out, yet you just responding to me saying the haters are always there. So do you think you can handle dealing with irrational haters no matter what you fixed? Do you think its worth showing up to work if you’re going get pissed on for no reason other than to trash on you? Canceling the next stage in the midst of a ragefest is the smartest thing they can do. But you somehow seem to be convinced they are being chickenshit.Â
There’s nothing convenient about canceling months worth of labor because of a mob of irrational gamers. Stop to think about their perspective, not just your thoughts on their actions.
Quinchalordkrall I would love to see you handle standing in front of a firing squad of angered fans. Think you can handle thousands of fans pissed off at you?
SoMuchMass worrying about whether a fan gets defensive or not is not a sign that your comments have any validity. So concentrate on putting less effort in trolling and more on the subject at hand. I agree with you that this could be an omen for the expansion, but it doesn’t conclusively mean anything.
Uh I only got like 25 of the thingies I needed to get a skin, I figured this would go on a bit longer than this. Everytime I logged in I didn’t find the event, maybe I was just on during the bit in between?
Don’t be sad, that was like a fine curry. :D
Its insulting that they asked for feedback on what went wrong. They can do better, they have shown they can do better and asking that of the community was like throwing a dead bird in the air and then expecting serious analysis into why it didn’t fly.
This was bordering on Trion levels of incompetence.
