Destiny’s new expansion creates a headache for non-buyers

IT TAKES TWO

Destiny players are flocking by droves to upgrade to the new Taken King expansion… but what about those who decided not to jump on board? It turns out that Bungie is making life quite difficult for those trying to stay in the old content.

Players without the expansion have found themselves locked out of parts of the game that are now under the umbrella of The Taken King. This means that the core game population can’t access heroic strikes, nightfalls, or many tiers of PvE and PvP playlists that they used to enjoy. Gear vendors are also locked, as is the ability to select a level when accepting a mission.

To make matters worse, Bungie never gave its community a heads-up that they would be locked out of this content if they didn’t upgrade.
