BioWare details SWTOR’s Consular and Inquisitor changes

You can’t have an MMO expansion without class changes, and Star Wars: The Old Republic’s Knights of the Fallen Empire update is no exception. The 4.0 patch will give Shadows and Assassins a new ability which will aid in stealthily approaching targets. BioWare has also moved the Phase Walk ability into the Consular/Inquisitor base class, meaning that Shadows and Sages now have access to it and therefore have an additional option when it comes to escaping danger.

The rest of the class tweaks, which BioWare describes as subject to change, can be found in the Consular/Inquisitor dev blog.

Greaterdivinity It’s a combination mobility tool (allowing the tank to recover to a previously-prepared position) and a healing buff (heals in and out of the prepared position are buffed). It can be a significant boost to a team’s effectiveness in an operation or flashpoint, depending on the need for healing.

The game still suffers from skill overload like Lotro does.

Consular was my favourite class back when I played this. For me it was the embodiment of the Jedi, more so than the Knight.

Could be interesting, Unless they have wiped my account, i still have a inquisitor sitting on Voss because of that damn trick boss quest.

Oskiee srmalloy Looks like it, yeah, with some abilities being given to the “base” class so that both branches now gain access to it. Very lazy, IMO.
Not much skin off of my teeth since I don’t like the game as it is, though I was considering taking my 55 consular through the expansions (Revan -> Knights). Don’t know, think I’ll just keep it in carbonite.

srmalloy Except you start at level 60 or bring up a character from level 1, either way you don’t need phase walk at 55. They are adding new abilities but the leveling curve changed, and so the level you get the abilities changed with it. We get more story and people complain about it not being class centric. It hasnt been class centric since Day One, your argument has a few merits but seems more specious than anything.

With the last of the class changes finally posted, I feel like I’ve seen everything that I need to see of this expansion.  I’ll check back on the game in the final weeks before the next expansion launches.

As a Shadow Tank, I’m quite happy with the additions.  No major changes and another closer.  All good.  Looking forward to using the Kinect ward with the increased duration and charges.
