Here’s what happened with Star Citizen’s FPS module this week

Cloud Imperium published its weekly look at Star Citizen’s Star Marine FPS module progress earlier this weekend. Most of the week was spent fixing blockers, crashes, and server stability, according to CIG senior game producer Jason Hutchins.

He goes on to mention specific progress in the areas of gameplay engineering, animation, and more, but unfortunately he doesn’t have a concrete timeline for when Star Marine will make it onto Star Citizen’s test server and into the hands of backers.

“At present, we’re working on a patch release based on the new code-base for Star Citizen. We’ll need your help testing Star Citizen’s new code base and server changes in 1.3.0 and we hope you’ll get that very soon,” Hutchins explained. “If Star Marine is in the bare minimum shape to release it to you on PTU we will include it in 1.3.0. If it isn’t, we’re going to hold it until we feel it is. These are the hard choices, but it’s important we have something that you can test for us effectively before we go to PTU.”

Well, buttshun, you clearly don’t understand how FPS will be implemented in Star Citizen. My suggestion would be that you read up on the game before commenting.

BTW, is that you, Jean Conçalves (Jerk99)?

But it’s not just “another FPS”. Star Marine, which will come out first, is a simulator with its own maps, but FPS will be integrated in the Persistent Universe (PU) in all areas regarding ship boarding and planetside. You will be able to go seamlessly from space battle to ship boarding, for instance, or land on a planet to assasin some warlord or something by fighting off his gang and then shoot him in the head. In exploring there’ll be caves and ruins where you can expect resistance that require FPS gameplay.

FPS will be a gameplay tool to achieve your goals in the game, not just something you do because you like FPS.

We are the Star Citizen FPS Team, Ask us anything! from IAmA

===========================================================
Question from “krasavchik69”:
“For ship boarding, what have you all come up with for actually entering
other ships e.g. cutting through the hull, forcing hatches, shooting out
the windows, etc.?”

Answer from “SC-FPS-TEAM”:
“you can cut through the hull, sneak on board through many mischievous
techniques, blasting hatches, etc. entry points are very carefully
chosen, however. essentially they’re ‘vulnerable’ points of a
ship/station. Windows are generally extremely fortified.”

===========================================================
As is shown above, the FPS module IS, in fact, tied in with SHIP
BOARDING.  The FPS module is interwoven throughout the entirety of Star Citizen, and I suspect
Squadron 42 as well.
So, you see my little troll….Once again it has been proven that your OPINION is nothing more than that.  An opinion.  An incorrect one at that.
I believe THAT is called Check Mate.

Well I suppose it depends on how you define printing money.
I don’t believe they literally print money, but the way they make money I can see how people can see it as printing money.

Darkwalker75 butsun rioinsignia Nice deflection try.
Show me the proof that I asked or you are done here.

This “FPS module” has nothing to do with the feature-set that are required for a ship-to-ship boarding mechanic. It have all to do with differentiate itself, as a module of FPS Shooter, with other FPS launched in the market.
“We are going to redefine the FPS Genre” – they said.

But the mechanics shown as “different” barely are required to the purpose of that 3 million dollars stretch goal, which is Ship-to-ship boarding mechanic.

This is not the ship-to-ship boarding mechanic. It’s another thing. And actually, have good chances to jeopardize and make that mechanic less fun. Specially by ships that are not so big. That is my opinion.

But now, stop to deflect. You received a check. You are making it a check-mate. Prove me wrong. You stated what you said as a fact. Was the first to criticize me when I gave, what yourself called “subjective opinion”. Then you made a subjective opinion yourself, was challenged and then, confirmed that it was a fact.

So, prove it. It’s easy. Do like I suggested. Why you are taking so long?

I made me ashamed?
That’s pure gold there, you sure know how to make someone laugh.
I don’t think you know what you are talking about here.
You seem to think that the ship to ship boarding and the FPS module are two separate entities and mutually exclusive, that is just not true.
The FPS module is meant to test all FPS aspect, which includes the ship to ship boarding.

With my link to the $3.5 million goal I was trying to tell you that the FPS part of the game has been part of the main game as you call it since the very beginning, and that the FPS module was always intended to test this as well as all the other FPS aspects of the game.

Darkwalker75 butsun rioinsignia You gotta to be kidding right? Show me the majority of 1 million backers disagreeing with me and/or approving the FPS prioritized over ship-to-ship boarding, or it is subjective opinion. That’s simple.
My subjective opinion says that its false.
But you claim that its a fact. So, show it.
