Drizzt joins Neverwinter in this fall’s Underdark expansion

14

A few familiar faces are coming to Neverwinter in the upcoming Underdark expansion, including a fairly famous Drow. If you’d happily fight the two-headed Prince of Demons Demogorgon alongside Drizzt Do’Urden, Regis, and Bruenor Battlehammer (and nine other players), now is your opportunity! These three, well-known in the Dungeons & Dragons’ Forgotten Realms universe, make their appearance in this eighth expansion that takes players into the Rage of Demons storyline from Wizards of the Coast. They are brought to life in game in a special quest line written by the characters’ creator himself, New York Times Best-Selling author R.A. Salvatore, whose recently release novel Archmage actually kicks off the Rage of Demons story.

Underdark will launch this fall on the PC, with the XBox One release following after. Check out the Rage of Demons trailer below, then keep your eyes out for our interview with Salvatore coming up!

Aye. and part of my personal problem with the Drizzt character is that a number of his popular aspects are “borrowed” (cough) from other characters fairly directly.
The character’s origins and tone owe a huge debt to Michael Moorcock’s classic fantasy hero, Elric of Melnibone, for example..
Such homages are no crime, and again, people can certainly like what they like, as much as they like.
I guess it just throws me off a bit when the homage character begins to be seen as wholly original, and is praised for being “new and different”.
But maybe that’s just me being a cranky bastid. Very possible. :-)

Cheers,.

Damn it. I love Drizzt novels, always have. I however hate PWE and despise thier game strategy in general.

Kanbe There was enough of a Drizzt’s circle jerk party during the Neverwinter prerelease.

Only interest in this is from the D&D 5e front. Great thing is any DM can set adventures anywhere. We play in Eberron and therefore Drizzt and all that is vanilla and annoying about Forgotten Realms goes bye-bye.

mysecretid Drizzt was superhuge during the 90’s. Then came Legolas. And then let’s be honest Blizzard gave a bus-shock to the fantasy genre…
Anyway for a lot of us AD&D and Forgo will be The fantasy setting.

Damonvile True, and also the big baddies (or “bosses”) in D&D didn’t all summon hundreds of adds.

Awesome trailer! If only the game didnt suck being hard money grab and nothing else but D&D in the name… If some1 only made expansion like this for NWN2 since no1 plans a proper NWN3…

Normally id be all over this but it’s neverwinter which to me has always just held the D&D name and little else.
I think growing up playing forgotten realms made it much harder to accept what this game was.
