Guild Wars 2 walks guilds through the process of getting their new home

We all know that guild halls are coming with Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns, but how will that actually work? Is there an in-game realtor and papers to sign at a closing or what?

It won’t be that complicated, but there is still a process that must be navigated to unlock and obtain a guild hall. As part of its Guild Week, ArenaNet outlined the steps that must be undertaken for group housing. After players check in at Lion’s Arch guild initiative headquarters, they’ll mount an expedition (which costs 100 gold) into the jungle to find and conquer a whole bunch of Mordrems. If the expedition is successful, guilds can then start building and upgrading facilities.

You can watch the full 37-minute discussion of guild halls and associated features in yesterday’s livestream after the break.

Says you.  With all the dyes, collections, skins, skins, more skins, and other things in this game. Everything becomes a gold sink.   Being broke 9/10ths the time is commonplace.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t they say that the instance caps out at 200 peps?  So those so-called “mega guilds” of 500+ players are going to get a pain in the rump of trying to get everyone into the same place.

I hate to toss a compliment to Trion but it looks like they did it better in Rift.

woolydub While even for smaller guilds this isn’t an end of the world price, it is definitely irksome.  More than anything else it just sort of strikes as lazy.  Guilds aren’t all the same, everyone gets that, and has for ages.  Unless games want to be dominated by megaguilds it’d make sense to make allowances for the smaller ones.

I single player can make that easily in a day or two through Silver Wastes, if it’s a measely 100g per guild that could be collected within a minute.

when chris whiteside was still with arenanet we had a community development initiative about guild halls. he seemed to thinkt heir should be price scaling involved. large guilds and small guilds would pay costs that would scale in size. 100g for a small guild is a totally different cost than for a large guild. large guilds get to do it more cheaply, they get to build faster, and they have access to more guild missions merely because of their size.

so much for thinking outside the box, arenanet.

Don’t let the reality of the game get in the way of your mischaracterization of it.
