LotRO’s latest patch tosses errant quest pies and bumps store town services to 6 hours

Lord of the Rings Online’s Update 16.5 may not introduce any world-shattering additions to the game (who wants a broken world anyway?), but it does provide some quality of life improvements and bug fixes. Perhaps the most noteworthy change is in the store town services; auction, mailbox, legendary item, repair and sell, and vault services now last six hours, a substantial increase over the previous one-hour timer. Another change comes in the form of automatically binding partially opened package items to the character that opens them. Anyone who was waiting to dye shields, however, will find it is no longer possible to do in the wardrobe.

Players whose inventories weren’t working properly and those who transferred servers and found they couldn’t use their /reclaim command for a long while will be glad to know that both of those problems have been fixed. Other fixes include removing errant quest pies that clogged inventories, preventing using too many reputation items to max a faction, and placing Haudh Nogbenn’s entrance back on the ground where it belongs.

Why would you want to go there?
I hear it’s horribly laggy there.

Actually it does.
I don’t visit the Lotro forums as frequently as I visit here and this post was a welcome surprise for me, because I was wondering why the servers were down yesterday (the new Lotro store was not in place when I got back).

“placing Haudh Nogbenn’s entrance back on the ground where it belongs”
OMG, I thought it was only me…
That was driving me crazy, trying to hop up to the door with a hobbit.

denhith . . . this site is devoted to MMO news.  A patch like this is news about the game.

Sounds like someone is maybe not super good at website reading?

progshine teppic When you buy an expansion you get everything in it permanently — though some of the original areas before the first expansion (Moria) have to be bought separately, unless you have VIP. Every model has its good and bad sides, though in my view there are ones far, far worse than LOTRO’s.

teppic progshine Thanks!
You know, I think there was somthing to do with everything being paid in the game. I actually bought every exp before Rohan and still 75% of dungeons, scenarios and rides are not included and you have to pay pretty much for every single thing. This model of business makes it kinda hard to enjoy the game. :)

progshine It’s been mostly about the server closures and new hardware for most of the year, but there are the usual content updates and improvements. There’s also free episodic content now.

So, I’ve been away from the game for quite a long time now (maybe a year) how’s the situation of the game atm?

Greaterdivinity Move to the new server hardware is scheduled in October.  IIRC they are doing Brandywine first and see how it goes from there.
