World of Warcraft adds stuff to its cash shop

Blizzard has added a bunch of character services to World of Warcraft’s cash shop. Apparently being able to buy them all “from the comfort of the character selection screen” is a big deal, too. Or at least it’s a big enough deal to merit its own website update!

The post says that appearance changes including sex, face, skin color, hair color, hair style, and name are available, along with faction changes. Blizzard notes that you cannot purchase any of these changes with a character logged into the game.

I know logic isn’t allowed on the internet, but I couldn’t help myself. People are complaining about mircotransactions that have been around since 2009 & their just being added to the store now. Is this another complaining for the sake of complaining, I honestly hope they allow you to buy those services with Gold.
If anything I expect something like ESO in the future, B2P with a optional subscription.

Doesn’t help if you’re merged server happens to suck.  You still need to AH and other various stuff.  Plus no trading/guilding/etc.

You can’t trade or do some other things either.  It’s a real pita.

Yeah. I wonder how that is working. Joining 5 dead servers could still be dead.

Grinnen As far as I am concerned they have already shot themselves in the foot. They have permitted fixable issues like server faction imbalance grow over years into severe problems all while charging $20 for server transfers. They go for over a year between content updates while keeping the game subscription only. For all the profits they make on WoW they get less accomplished and charge more than games that have less than 1% of there resources.
So blizzard I hope you are seen for the greedy corporate sellouts you really are. Thanks for ruining a once great game, thanks for betraying your customers through inaction and incompetence. There are so many better choices out there than WoW right now, and I do not believe you will ever come close to regaining my respect or business.

Grinnen “$25 for a mount, or a race change? What a complete joke.”  I agree with you and we are both wrong.  One of the hosts at BlizzardWatch (nee’ AOL’s WoWInsider) just race changed his twitch leveling character last week.  I know people IRL whose economic situation is such that when payday is can affect their spending who spend more on race and realm changes than I would.

Estranged Lord no.  I picture a meeting at Microsoft, Apple, Google, EA, ATVI where someone says “we could do that but we already make enough money” lol

Estranged SallyBowls1 Two different things.

They did actual server mergers, actually better than server mergers since they avoided the biggest problem of server mergers, name conflict. So realms 1 and 2 are “connected” and share the same AH, you can talk/trade across them, join the same guilds.

In addition to that, you can form cross-realm groups and raids.
