Betawatch: October 2nd, 2015

Bad news for fans of elegant turns on the dance floor and all of the delicious accompanying politics that Ever, Jane promised – the game’s beta is being slightly delayed. Not massively so, but it turns out that the end of September was a bit too ambitious. The closed beta transition is now planned for sometime this month.

Other news in which betas did or did not go off as planned:

And of course, the usual suspects beneath this particular preamble. If something skipped phases or so forth in the list below, please, do let us know.

As always, we consider an MMO to be in open testing if it features free, public signups and will server wipe prior to launch. An MMO is marked in closed testing if it’s running a private test phase that cannot freely be accessed by the general public; it’s usually under NDA as well. Early access and crowdfunded MMOs whose tests we deem legitimate will be included. So-called “open beta” soft-launch MMOs with cash shops, no sign of launch in the west, or limited interest for our readers will not be listed; we also do not list expansions.

Can we just retire the word beta? Just call it what it is….Early access garbage. Out of that entire list theres like 1 game that will make it to launch lol. Everytime I see this list i feel really sad being a mmo gamer  its like clear nothing is going on anytime soon.

Greaterdivinity Yeah, I got suckered on the original 1.0 of this game. That was back when Darkfall and Mortal Online were a thing for me. I was hoping we could get a sci fi version of a open world pvp sandbox(ish) type of game. Still no dice.

Hyped for Black Desert Russian Beta.  Will spend hours in character creation.

Just checked because I was curious, and it looks like Earthrise is likely abandoned. Forums are down and the last news/blog post is from April…of 2014.
Disappointing to see that the game was given the chance for a revival that apparently hasn’t panned out : /

For me a develop realizing they need some time for polish and have the resources to spend the time doing so is good news.
