The results are in! During the big expansion reveal livestream yesterday, EverQuest II’s Executive Producer Holly Longdale announced the outcome of the most recent vote on the Time-Locked Expansion servers. While players on both the PvP server Deathtoll and the PvE sever Stormhold previously said no to unlocking game’s first expansion, they appear ready for it now; both populations voted yes to open up Desert of Flames. The expansion will become available for play next Thursday, October 8th. Anyone hoping to participate in the various holiday events on the TLE servers, however, are out of luck; devs explained that the events will break all the things pretty significantly (remember, the holidays have grown and changed significantly over the years), and will take a huge amount of resources to address. So for the foreseeable future, holiday events will not be turned on.
In other news, the first server merge is expected to come next week, combining Crushbone, Butcherblock, and Oasis into the new Maj’ Dul server. Then there will be a break as Daybreak moves offices. After all three server merges are completed and everything is stable, Longdale said free character transfers will become available (and will include moves to Antonia Bayle ).

I went back to live, but mainly to pack as I have characters on both Freeport and Nagafen and they’re merging together this month into Skyfire, lol.
Oh, shared bank, oh noooooo! Â Pack pack pack!

It had to do with anyone who had leveled any characters within the couple/few days prior to merger. Â If you hadn’t logged on, your characters would have been the same level (and would have had the same inventory) for both backups. Â :P
Denice J Cook Wow..I must have been very lucky because I was MIA during the Crushbone merge and when our server merged into it all my characters were still max and had (at least I am pretty sure) most of their stuff.
Rozyn Tamanous Yep. Most of my guildies have stopped logging in waiting for the next unlock. The ones who are still around are just playing alts. There is nothing to do at 50.
Tamanous The vast majority of my guild voted for it. There is nothing to do at 50 aside from make new alts. I don’t play ridiculous hours, I have 1-2 hours a night tops to play, I got my first 50 about 3 weeks into the server launch. Not the fastest by any stretch of the imagination because I was also levelling alts and sharing my vitality around. I didn’t spend any money on vitality potions. It took me less than a week to run through all the level 50 content and get the draconic language and my prismatic weapon. My main character pretty much has best in slot items for everything.
This is all playing very casually, no 10 hour benders. A month later I now have 3 other level 50s and no intention to make another character. There is literally no dungeon progression or raid progression in the base game.
Desert of Flames has a much tougher and longer progression, with a well fleshed out endgame. It also makes absolutely no difference to players under level 50. They can continue to level slowly and enjoy themselves if that is how they roll.
Rozyn Me too. As if they couldn’t just turn them on and let people do the ones that don’t involve the expansion areas. After EoF launches they better put them all in since there’s no more excuses after that.
Denice J Cook ouch lol.
I am still super salty about the lack of any holiday goodies yet tons of crap on the Store. Geeze, give us one holiday NPC or something since the TLE is sub-only! Oh well, yet one more thing in the long list of TLE/DBG disappointments. At least I get to look forward to DoF which is one step closer to EoF lol.
Denice J Cook Tamanous Except that with EQ recently DBG showed that where the vote doesn’t go the way they want it they ignore it anyway. I’ve stopped playing on progression servers precisely because the whole point of them has been negated with DBG holding votes and then siding with the minority.
Tamanous My entire guild and I voted Yes. Most of us have multiple 50s and have played the tar out of the base game. Servers were slowing down a ton too. Honestly, the base game is my least favorite content and was greatly improved upon with expansions, I was happy to see it pass. If it didn’t pass I was going to take a monthlong break, no biggie, but I am definitely glad it went through.
