Firefall aims for an update every six to eight weeks

Firefall isn’t keeping its players in the dark regarding the game’s future plans. Red 5 posted a development schedule that includes the next four updates and some of their features.

While there are no specific time frames attached to the updates and feature pack, Red 5 said that they should be coming out every six to eight weeks. Update 1 will include the Coral Forest and Sertao, Update 2 will raise the level cap to 45 and toss in the Devil’s Tusk zone and new PvP modes, Update 3 will push the level cap to 50 and bring in a new raid, and the Feature Pack 1 will add major PvP features.

Red 5 noted that it will continue to push the game in China and other regions with the intent of making Firefall “a global game.”

johnmynard blackcat7k I would argue the biggest issue wasn’t all that wasted money, weirdly they seem to be getting a chunk of it. It’s that they never had a core design from the start and so the kept changing constantly while in development. that was far more costly in terms of lost funds and player goodwill

Screw monthly or yearly updates, they should start doing updates every decade.

blackcat7k FF’s biggest problem up to this point was their former idiot of a CEO who burned a LOT of their operating capital on silly things before such things were warranted and would throw weeks and more work out because he had a better idea.  It’s taken them this long to get back to the place they should’ve been a while ago.  I wish them good luck with the (re)launch of their new content/systems and pray that these stick.

Firefall snuck up on me. Downloaded on a whim because i was sick to death of the shit fantasy MMOs currently offered. And WOAH was i surprised!! Firefall is one of the best MMOs ive ever played. And one of the best FPS’s as well. Its been 6 months now and i feel like i have barely scratched the surface of this game. Love the combat and gameworld. And the new updates of the game currently on public test server are taking the game in a great direction. Army vs Army PVP and complex raiding – yes please. EXCITED!!!

Having multiple updates isn’t the answer. It’s the quality of those updates and what it actually adds or improves in the main game. You could have one update a year if it was something that knocked everyone’s socks off.
That’s been a problem with these MMOs… going after quantity instead of quality, and it always ends up hurting them in the end.

SallyBowls1 Damonvile EQ. Velious and Kunark. Best expansions ever. Races , huge continents , tons of new mobs and content without massively changing the originail gameplay either. They sold well as EQ’s numbers were still steadily growing.

That’s what I want in an expansion to an mmo I have chosen to play , massive new amounts of content that does NOT completely change the original gameplay.

Damonvile IMO it goes in cycles.  Nobody besides WoW has really been able to make expansions work either.  Not a whole lot of financial success stories in MMOs.

I think the dynamic is more smaller releases gets more content/year and fewer larger release gets more marketing/year.  In the end, marketing, alas, is probably more important than content so I think you will see it predominate.  But in a few years some aggressive younglings will be back to trying the small/fast releases.

Each time I come back to the game the progression is getting worse and worse.
Now with more levels and alternate advancement?
Yeah, right.

What a waste of time this was. Maybe they’ll try to make something different than an EQ clone one day.
It needed new battleframes years ago, something else than combat a decade ago, and certainly not doubling down on boring ass “progression” by removing things and upping numbers on already existing content.

It’s been four years of bullshit and promises that were never kept, remakes all over the place that never end up remotely fun or satisfying, and the same guys swearing that this time they have the foundations and they’ll expand the game.
Fuck it, I’m off.

Damonvile They’re not speeding things up, they’re slowing things down.  The original plan was to get this update out before the end of 2015 and now they’re planning to finish rolling it out around the middle of 2016.  They haven’t said anything about plans to continue releasing content every 6-8 weeks after they finish the current chunk of stuff they’re working on.
