RIFT’s massive fall update will be coming to the game in a mere couple of days.

Patch 3.4: Into the Wilds is scheduled to release this Wednesday on the servers. The huge update includes the new Primalist calling with six souls, the Planestouched Wild zone, a five-person dungeon, a 20-person raid, a PvP warfront, additional artifact sets, and more.

“Sealed away from Telara for decades through the magic of the Infinity Gate, the Planetouched Wilds are a mystery, open to all at long last,” Trion teased. “News of the discovery entices adventurers to discover the lost lands and experience the wonders therein.”

Veldan ayatesart Nice to hear that you’re enjoying the game, as well. I’m a little disappointed with their Patron subscription service but someone in my guild suggested skipping that and just buying 20 bucks of cash shop currency instead. If I like a game, I’m happy to pay the 15/month so I’m just going to do that every 5-6 weeks, so it will feel like a subscription haha, because everything I need/want is only available in the cash shop.

Then, maybe, when I have what I need from the cash shop, I’ll consider going Patron. I think they should give you some cash shop credit w/ Patron, each month, but I guess they feel they’d lose money that way.

Veldan SwobyJ Sorry, but I’m story completionist :))))

SwobyJ I found the Nightmare Saga pretty bad tbh, I wouldn’t say you miss much if you’d skip it entirely. It was annoying me to the point that I stopped reading the text (in a saga o.O) and just played through to finish it. There were only 2 quests in the 3 acts of it that I found worth playing for their lore.

ayatesart What you describe is exactly the right attitude for enjoying Rift – open mind, not rushing, and not feeling the need to have every single thing. I used to rush and want everything, but I’m enjoying the game much more now that I don’t :)

Malorey This patch is literally the dream patch for me in terms of story and gameplay content coverage haha. PTW and Bronze Tomb were at the top of the list. The rest is: having a cool event/quest with Smith’s Haven (it could be anything, like going back in the past and seeing it peaceful before the Endless attacked), a Shi-Ming zone or larger region, a Telara’s Moon zone or larger region, a Dark Telara region, and a realm of the Vigil.

Primalist – Not spending money so no. I also don’t like the idea of totally rerolling. Seems to only be a thing for totally new players with deep pockets and completely deep into it players with even deeper pockets.

Planetouched Wilds – Yep, looking forward to exploring it! Too bad I haven’t finished the Nightmare Saga before it, but I’m thinking PTW may be a story rather parallel (though not involving) to it in the ‘timeline’?

Dungeon – Still haven’t really dived into NT dungeons much in general so eh. But still glad that the location for this dungeon is a thing.

Raid – I wonder about this. Does this really mean that we’re not getting a 4th Plane of Water zone now? Not that I’m torn up about it, especially if the idea is to add the 4th PoW zone years down the line (like adding PTW to Mathosia, for example).

Warfront – I don’t care. Or rather, I want to visit the Bronze Tomb in a questline rather than a warfront, so I can only hope that Trion thinks that’s a good idea too.

Artifacts – The upcoming new artifact system only bothers me with its complexity. Considering that my advancement in artifacts mostly covers the normal artifacts of Mathosia, I just take artifacts as they come and truly do not have the time to actively hunt for them. Would be cool to have an elemental squirrel mount tho…

RIFT’s ‘sink 100s of hours into this grind, combat or non-combat’ aspect doesn’t keep me around anymore (unlike 2011-2013), but I’m totally up for the new quests! Keeping me as a player does at least theoretically mean that when I have more $100s to spend on the game, I just might do so! lol

Greaterdivinity Its not like you have to do it immediately. In fact, its almost better to do it so Trion can fix anything they’ve missed.

Greaterdivinity Veldan Yeah it didn’t take me long at all and I’m a slow quester. And PTW’s quests themselves will arrive in phases too (I suppose all out by the holiday season).

I’ve been around the MMORPG block many, many times and for a number of reasons, this is the game I’m into right now and I don’t really see anything new coming out soon to pull me away.

ESO is also very good and I almost stuck it out with that game, but I’m a little more WoW/EQ2/PvE type so Rift just fit better. I really enjoy just running around in such a big open world and the game has everything I want, plus pretty nice housing(I loved ArcheAge’s open world housing and the land rush was seriously one of the most exciting MMO game experiences in my life, but we all know why that game sucks so hard…such a waste).

Tried to go back to WoW for WoD and friends but the garrison system destroyed that game for me. Glad to hear the next X-pac won’t have it, but I wasn’t all that impressed by the announcement(neither was the crowd at the live reveal it seemed..) Rift is a WoW clone, we all know this and my WoW friends pointed that out, as they mocked me for playing it, BUT it just doesn’t feel as much like an “on-rails” game as WoW does these days, plus you get player housing(WoW really needs to add that soon!!)

Wildstar, I tried it. meh’ More power to you who like it. It just hurt my eyes too much–those colors! GAHH
Tera, also not bad. Great combat but like I said, I just like that antiquated tab targeting style. The overall look of the game, that Korean game art style isn’t my favorite, but that really comes down to personal taste, I know! Speaking of that, I agree with some of the comments I’ve seen about ESO being so “ugly” looking–yes, very good, detailed graphics, but still dark n depressing!

I’ll end this rambling here: Rift–really enjoying it–hope the fun lasts and I have so much content to get through–haven’t paid a penny yet but I will have to soon, just so i can sell on AH and have stuff! The cash shop is a real concern and I’m just trying to keep an open mind. I think if you’re like me it’s OK, I don’t need to rush to max-level and I don’t need to have every item in the game! I’ll be glad to drop a few bucks a month if I continue playing.

Don’t forget, isn’t this also the day Trion starts upping their sub and patron prices?
