Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns will introduce the dragon Glint’s legacy

One of the vacation destinations awaiting Guild Wars 2 players in Heart of Thorns is Tarir, a “shining golden city” teeming with magic and mystery and the type of history that you never learn in school.

According to a new dev blog, Tarir is also home to the Exalted, a race of servants that were created as part of the dragon Glint’s desire to make the world safer. The Exalted — which come in builder, soldier, and mage varieties — have awoken after a long rest to rally to the defense of the world against the elder dragons.

“As beings of pure eldritch energy, the Exalted have a much more advanced facility with magic than their former fleshy selves ever did,” the devs posted. “They are also effectively immortal — they do not age and are extremely durable, though they can still be killed by violence or by draining their essential magic.”

Line with more hugs The blog article doesn’t sound like a spoiler but rather a piece that explains the background settings of the expansion.

Faction 3 You may not be interested in them, but for the moment Reaper, Druid and Herald are all very powerful. Daredevil, Tempest, Dragonhunter, Scrapper are pretty sweet too. The only standout is Berserker, which just doesn’t seem to do anything new or interesting. So I guess it’s a good thing I’m swapping mains from Warrior to Revenant in HoT.

Yangers Then don’t read them. There are those of us who do like lore blog posts, and not just posts about new features. Sheesh..

They shouldn’t be putting these blogs out now. After the xpac is out, fine. But now? No way. It ruins major plot stuff. They even spoiled the Master of Peace!

Really wish they would stop putting out these blog posts. This one particularly spoiled a huge aspect of the expansion. Now, instead of finding this out as we play through in game, we get to read about it 3 weeks before the damn thing is even out. Thanks for that! /sarcasm
Terrible move ANet.

Line with more hugs ArenaNet have been trying their best to put out all the spoilers for what’s happened, though. Apparently they’re more concerned with players having a firm understanding of the current situation than letting them be surprised, which makes sense from a business standpoint. Better to have people slightly miffed about spoilers than talking shit about the expansion’s story because they’re lost from the start.

At least, that’s the case given that it’s totally not mandatory to play through the LS (or even the personal story) to start playing Heart of Thorns. Besides, playing Heart of Thorns will spoil a lot too.

Faction 3

Reaper is serious awesome.   Dragonhunter is alright.   Tempest is absolutely great (my personal pick)

Line with more hugs Not my fault, I’m sorry. I put spoiler in the tip headline and in the body explained it to spoil the LSS2 story as well.
