Elite: Dangerous shows off a planetary surface

Give people a game about flying around in space and the first question you hear is, “When can we walk around on a planet?” You walk around on a planet every day! But Elite: Dangerous will let you walk around on a planet with its first expansion, and a brief new video shows off a demo build of the game featuring some planetary zoom-out action. There’s a lot of planet to see.

If you were hoping for a resort of a planet, you’ll be disappointed; as has been previous discussed, the first planets available to explore will be of the rocky variety. It’s still an interesting look at the landscape as development continues, and at less than a minute it’s a quick watch to boot.

Zarkov When has a game ever done that? Come out in the chumpest form that doesn’t ever perform in a similar fashion and then basically revamp it after it is out and relaunch Besides ARR, which was done out of necessity, it hasn’t. That’s a stupid plan.

Cotic_OP I always wished Eve would have went in this direction with PI and Dust 514.

Malfious try bounty hunting, or smuggling, can really rake in the cash in smaller ships.
Larger ships are really needed to make big trade profits.

Vipers are combat ships so load up a bounty hunting loadout, and head over to Avingey  Duval (no way I spelled that right) space, bounties over there pay more even if you have not joined that power, and hit up some combat zones or resource sites.

The AI has gone retarded since 1.4, at least for me, at RES sites they are bumping into asteroids quite a bit, get some quick easy pirate kills though as they will down to 10% hull from a collision, have to be careful though as Anacondas also like to just ram anything, especially the Federal Security ones.
Shoot a pirate Anaconda in my Vulture, duck behind an Asteroid and he just plows into the asteroid trying to get me… lol
Looking forward to Horizons though

Go to RES sites if combat is your thing. Alternatively, buy a hauler and make money trading. I find the later quite relaxing.

In not sure why people think outside a shallow game. Just because most of the game mechanics ate hidden from the player, it doesn’t make it shallow. It has a functional market, political system, allegiances. Ok so it’s missing crafting and player bases. They are on the way. What is it that people want from the game that it’s missing? EVE was far more primitive when it opened and look how successful that has become.
Contrast the to Star Citizen which has 10 times the budget. They could easily have a persistent world out by now if they hadn’t concentrated on the precise physics of how a ship explodes and other features that were not in the original brief. All that fluff coyldcould have been added later if they managed their scope properly.

I recently started playing it again just for Horizons, after buying it in beta and only played 3 hours or so. However I’m finding myself getting quite bored – Getting money in this game seems to be a real grind, I’m probably doing something wrong..
I’m playing it on Solo atm since I really don’t like playing with others lol. Can anyone give me any quick tips? I just got the Viper

Was nice to see the size of the Skimmer in comparison to the SRV, bigger than I thought they would be.

Frontier are doing a “How To Make A Real World” livestream on Wednesday at 7PM BST for those that are interested in the development side of things – http://us2.campaign-archive1.com/?u=dcbf6b86b4b0c7d1c21b73b1e&id=c2bae423cf&e=e85c903e54#How to Make a Real World
