If true (which it still might not be), the other MMOs I can think which is connected to Origin accounts are Dark Age of Camelot and Ultima Online.

At this point it is Big Company 101 to formally announce a data breach to get ahead of it.  It would serve no purpose to hold the info back from the public as any idiot knows a whistleblower exists with 2000+ employees.  To find out later you held the info back would be suicide for a tech company.

Truth. This time.

Koolthulu ShadowVasTerra Dystopiq And what about us, tinfoil hat folks, who rely on the fact most reliable web services make a strict distinction between the publicly accessible user name and the rather private email address and even those of us who use different email accounts for different purposes, based on activity, type of service, etc.? Wouldn’t giving our email address(es) to a random website (just to double-check, honestly) be a major help to their efforts, in such circumstances?

Two party authentication to save the day. Which reminds me that I need to browbeat my son because when he was home from school he “wasn’t” using two party authentication on his SWTOR account. (sigh) You can teach em but you can’t make em do things.

This is unfortunate and I see sense that companies or governments are getting closer to getting a handle on it.

I do not know what to make of the fact that my gaming companies provide TFA but not my bank and brokerage.

Koolthulu   Yeah, because we ALL know that hackers will stop at 600 accounts ;P – especially when that amount is less than 1/10th of 1% of ToR ‘s original purchasers/accounts!  Something fishy there, and while I’m ambivalent at best concerning EA – it sure isn’t their servers (which I’ve been using with no problem since WAR)
