Battle Bards podcast explores the music of Firefall

Battle Bards, the world’s first and only MMO music podcast, is back for another spirited episode, this time covering the soundtrack to Firefall. There are a few gems hidden in this score — and a few disagreements from the podcast crew as well as they examine the virtues and vices of this sci-fi album. Check out the latest episode and let us know what you think!

Battle Bards is a bi-weekly podcast that alternates between examining a single MMO’s soundtrack and exploring music tracks revolving around a theme. MOP’s Justin Olivetti co-hosts with bloggers Steff and Syl. The cast is available on iTunes, Stitcher, and Player.FM.

Damonvile Firefall’s music does succeed in being both tasteful and epic. It’s the kind of music that makes me feel that there’s a story here, not the audio equivalent of a movie trailer that’s nothing but a sequence of one or two second action shots. Michael Bross and Boon Sim did good work.

I think it’s one of the few games I actually left the music on. I can’t say I’m all that interested in music or gaming music but it is nice when a game doesn’t remind me the second I log in to turn it off by blasting some obnoxious noise in my ears.
