Star Trek Online enters the final round of ship design votes

Vote like you want to win.
So what do you want for your next Federation ship in Star Trek Online? If your answer was something about red and blue nacelles and a bunch of white surfaces… well, that was always going to be the case. But there are two designs going head-to-head in the final round of the game’s design-a-ship vote, and now it’s time to decide between Alpha and Omega.

Boy, that got symbolic.

Both ship designs have high-resolution art available; once you decide which one you think is more appealing, you can cast your vote via Twitter, Facebook, or the official forums. Votes will be accepted until midnight on October 22nd, so you’ve only got a little more time to let your opinion be heard.

I’m keenly interested in seeing how broad the options are when we get to the “Build” section of the process. Will we be looking at multiple takes on the idea of a Science carrier? Or will there be the chance to walk out of this with a Tactical carrier, like the Scimitar and Jem’Hadar dreadnoughts, only with a Federation skin and Tier 6 stats?

They both look like stepped-on bananas.

#TeamOmega here!

What sold me on this was the large bays port and starboard on the initial mock-ups.  What’s great about this tier-styled contest is that it really engaged the player base.  I can’t wait to see this applied to a KDF or Romulan carrier, and from what I understand this is a high possibility.  While Season XI is designed for players of all types and capabilities, I found it much easier to work through the new battlezone with a larger ship.  This will be a nice addition.

demonxaphan rafaelmizar Agreed – as a new player you don’t have to spend money.  It’s only as you get close to the max level does the game’s design start to push you to at least purchasing one or two ships, and even then you can purchase it with dilithium.  The rest is just lockbox fluff that you don’t have to participate in as long as you have some fiscal responsibility.

I find STO to have a number of unique components that differentiate it from other MMOs.  It’s a great MMO to play with a buddy online.  In ways that I can’t put to words I wish it could be so much more… but for what it is the overall game system and mechanics are quite extensive, and offer a lot of value and gaming entertainment.  Highly recommended.

Pretty bored with the saucer nacelles stuff. Was really hoping for something massive looking and different here. Something more like the Typhon. But STO devs are just not great at being innovative and creative. It’s a bummer they’ve turned this game into space ships online. All they care about is selling more ships to people at $30 a pop and churning out terribad story episdoes that are no better quality than a lot of player made foundry missions.
Sound bitter? I am! haha. I used to love STO and spent about 2k hours and several hundred bucks on the game until Stahl left, PvP died, and it went into the shitter.

rafaelmizar Really don’t have to spend any money, mine enough dilithium to turn it to zen whenever you want to buy certain ships down the line.
