Sword Coast Legends has officially launched today

After a couple of delays over the past few months, Sword Coast Legends is now live on Steam and officially celebrating launch with a lengthy list of patch notes. The star of the launch patch is the release of 35 brand-new interior locations and nine over-world tiles. “It was decided to make these locations unavailable during Head Start Five to prevent players from spoiling elements of the Sword Coast Legends campaign,” wrote the devs. There were also tweaks for companions, module editing, and graphics settings, plus numerous bug fixes.

We’ve included the launch trailer and new screenshots below along with our own video of the game from our recent playthrough with the devs — that should give you a good idea of how it plays and whether it’s worth your money!

Midgetsnowman Trekkan And Neverwinter Nights too, which it is also failing at. I could be wrong, but I think the majority of those who were really looking forward to this game were hoping for an updated Neverwinter Nights (graphically and ruleset), but that just didn’t end up being the case at all—hence the bitterness.

ohforfs I’m curious, what did you dislike about PoE?

ohforfs so far, it seems, like if you loved PoE, you’ll really dislike scl, and vice versa.

Well I am trying it now.  Kinda fun but the interface definitely needs some work.  I will continue to test and hope they work on the user interface issues.

BuchiBuci Midgetsnowman Yeah I never finished Pillars of Eternity. I found it a bit meh and was really annoyed at my quests bugging.

It’s getting pretty mixed reviews on Steam with a lot of people angry that it isn’t really D&D. I’m not sure if I care how D&D compliant it is. Might give it a go but after my disappointment at Pillars of Eternity I am not sure.

SirMysk Needs (More) Coffee, Probably Rozyn You should have seen the people just on the SCL forums and Steam page raging about the differences from it and DnD rulesets. Some people truly despise anything that isn’t identical to their tabletop experience – which is weird to me, since it’s going to be a different experience no matter what lol. But yeah, I think one can enjoy all the forms of the DnD universe, even if the only similarities are in the lore.

Rozyn I think that “despise” is a very strong word. It’s more that the comparison is apple to oranges. You like what you like and that’s cool. They’re completely different experiences.

Haven’t touched the campign and been making my own – reasonably impressed but it needs some polish, better quest connection and tools, and a tonne more environments, objects and cosmetics for npc’s

Yea lack of classes is my big beef. In these games with an actual party you need lots of choices for each member.
