World of Warcraft won’t have a hard Valor cap in 6.2.3

Just whenever you get around to us, it's cool.

The return of Valor as a currency in World of Warcraft‘s patch 6.2.3 brings a lot of questions with it. Once you get past several of the obvious questions about why it was removed in the first place under the circumstances, you get down to the specifics of numbers. A new update on the forums outlines exactly what those numbers are at the moment, starting with the fact that Valor will not have a hard cap in patch 6.2.3, although there will be practical limits on how much you can earn and how fast.

Upgrades cost 250 Valor for 5 item levels, with varying amounts awarded for raid finder runs, Heroic and Mythic dungeons, and weekly event quests. These sources can’t be repeated endlessly, but they’re sufficient to allow dedicated players a fairly quick trip along the upgrade tree for eligible items. If you’re happy with your gear but want just a little extra edge for it, it looks like Valor will provide exactly that.

For those saying it’s a ‘grind’. It takes two weeks of doing all dungeons and lfr’s to upgrade all your current gear.

That is peanuts.

This is a neutral site about gaming not a fan site for one specific game or company. Posting an honest but negative opinion in a company or fan site would be similar to pouring a cup on water into a pond. I don’t hate WoW in fact I’m saddened that WoD changed to many things I enjoyed and actually amplified some thing I loathe.
I’ve spent thousands of hours playing WoW (actively played from launch till 6 months prior to WoD release) and most importantly a lot of that time was with the same people (a cpl guild changes in vanilla) but in the same raiding guild in Molten Core that slowly transformed to a more social but high focus on raiding (I completed MoP obtaining the achievements before the nerf stick came in to allow most players to complete content). A large friends and family guild that have active social players and fills one or two progressive raids weekly.
For me WoD was so bad I didn’t even play long enough to get to raid status and have fun with my friends that I’ve been with raiding or helping people or fun runs for years /sigh
p.s. The first part applies as a reply but then I got into a rant and is not directed at Sorenthaz, sorry

I always find it funny how drastically different the comment sections are between here and Blizzardwatch on any WoW-related news.  MOP seems to be full of Blizzard burn-outs/critics/haters more than anything while BW is of course full primarily of fans and regular players.

adarel vicariousfan That and the currency is only used for upgrading high end gear.  So there’s not much reason to bother with it unless you’re raiding regularly or want an easier time getting into higher raiding tiers.

Nyres The idea though is that you aren’t limited to only getting 1000 valor a week, so you don’t feel like it’s necessary to grind out the maximum amount of valor when you don’t know what the weekly maximum is.

Dope_Danny I mean it’s fairly obvious that the earliest Legion will be out by is Spring 2016.

Yeah I was thinking that they’d finally settled on one currency with the Apexis crystals. Looks like that’s a no. Of course look at Bioware, they’ve just changed all the commendations to crystals. We’ve gotten used to calling them commendations or comm’s and now they’ve decided to make us all use a new term. (mutter)  Reminds me of my years in the military and all the damn DoD acronyms that would come and go. Gets damn old.

adarel vicariousfan It’s still a change and I strongly agree with Vicariousfan. It gets damn old. I wish they’d’ make up their damn minds.

vicariousfan I honestly think they were going to make Apexis the currency for this too and changed the name at last minute to make some rubes go “BASED BLIZZARD IS LISTENING!”.

And some people actually did.

Nyres I think that would be a “soft” cap. If they were to add other sources to gain Valor or run an event for bonus Valor, you would be able to exceed that soft cap.
