SWTOR: Knights of the Fallen Empire officially launches

“The galaxy as we knew it is gone,” a familiar voice says in Star Wars: The Old Republic’s latest trailer.

And so the latest chapter of the SWTOR saga begins, as Knights of the Fallen Empire launches for all subscribers today. Last week the expansion opened to the early access crowd and rolled out the Patch 4.0 changes for the entire community.

BioWare said that this expansion is a return to its storytelling roots: “You will experience a deep and personal story, and one in which your choices matter. Ultimately, your choices will determine the fate of your destiny and that of the galaxy. This story will put you at the center of an epic Star Wars adventure; and that is exactly what developing it was for our team — a deeply personal and epic adventure.”

Curious about the expansion? Check out our first impressions and video review, and stay tuned later today for even more coverage from our SWTOR expert. You can watch the Knights of the Fallen Empire launch trailer after the jump.

I still play and am subbed to SWTOR yet I didn’t purchase not give a damn about this expac.

I literally don’t care about lvl 50+ content / end game.
I think this is a first for me in any MMO I’ve ever played.

Just finished what content is released.   I have to say I was thoroughly impressed.   Despite that they have basically turned the game’s difficulty down to potato.   The story is truly amazing.   I forgot I was playing an MMO, it really hearkened back to old Bioware.

It isn’t until the end of the current available story content that you feel let down, but I would say for me it’s mostly because I want to see more at this point and have to deal with it and wait for it while consuming dailies, weeklies, etc.

Either way it was well worth subbing again to play it through.

This game treats its f2p/preffered players like dirt, possibly worse than any other MMO ever made. Unless you plan on subbing dont waste your time or money on this.

goldstariv BKone Cartap Ayup ^. Yet they keep the “mmo” so that they can justify a monthly subscription, still have an item mall, and sell it in pieces (“episodic content”).
Not to sound overly cynical or whatever, but it’s EA and this is basically their soiled dream.

karmamule The amount of quests for each planet feels pretty much perfect now. It’s fast but not all about riding from one class quest to the other. Very well paced.
Absolutely everything is faceroll now thanks to the massive companion buff. In that sense there is no difference from the old system where you out-leveled things. It’s nice to get XP though.

Spacejesus3k Cartap True but now you can go afk while your companion kills a group of elites.
