Looking for a mobile fix of your favorite MMOs? There are many possibilities coming down the road, including Age of Wushu Dynasty and Pocket MapleStory. So what’s going on with those titles?

Pocket MapleStory actually launched this week for Android devices with the iOS version coming “soon.” The mobile edition of the long-running 2-D MMO features three heroes, a guild system, and over 1,500 quests to complete. It’s already been downloaded over seven million times in Asia.

Age of Wushu Dynasty is a scaled-down version of the sandbox title that’s going into closed beta testing in November. It includes four martial arts schools and both PvP and PvE content. You can check out its teaser trailer after the jump.

They actually made a few decent decisions in Pocket MapleStory.

People end up having to spend far too much to draw out items from paid random draws in “Free to Play” games.  Pocket MapleStory still has those draws, but they also have a “VIP” rewards level that rises as you spend money.

You don’t have to spend too too much until you’re getting multiple free draws out of the premium paid draw content every single day for the entire rest of your life playing the game.  While the option to draw more is there too if you really want, I think it was pretty cool of them to let you earn ranks where you get daily free draws for the life of the game out of the usual paid lottery draw system.

It’s actually far less greedy than usual for a Free to Play game.

If you have a few thousand dollars to make an uber character, wushu can be incredibly fun. But if you plan to only pay the monthly sub, don’t even bother unless you don’t mind being a peon.

Well, that’s what happens when a game has no economy to speak of except for real money, thus p2w. A billing department that steals credit card information as happened to me, and lag they refuse to fix so it’s Chinese players aren’t at a disadvantage in the ping department against Americans.
Snail USA is an absolute, 100% shitshow.

Phubarrh Looks like they turned it into a Diablo-ish game.
But yeah Age of Wushu was such a hyped game that had a lot of good things about it, but yet again it’s a cool Asian MMO horribly ruined by fucked up cash shop practices from an Asian developer that doesn’t know how to operate F2Ps properly in the West whatsoever.

For Age of Wushu Dynasty, it gives me a bit of a giggle to see that an MMO which I was dying to play, yet whose monumentally complex interface kicked me to the curb, is now morphed into a tablet game that can be operated with a finger or two.
