In Elite: Dangerous, space is a dangerous place. That’s kind of implied right off by the name; it’s not called Elite: Everything is Safe and Full of Kittens. But the game’s first expansion will allow players to set down on the surface of a planet to get away from all that deep-space dogfighting… to engage in some more gravity-based fighting inside of the rovers of the game, which is very different.
The video below, in fairness, is not just about fighting things in the SRV. It also features some trundling about and exploring, picking up items, and other such important elements. It’s just also worth noting that you’ll still be dealing with things trying with great enthusiasm to blow up your cradle of safety within a cold and unsafe galaxy. Check out the footage, and remember that just because a planet isn’t habitable doesn’t mean that no one is willing to kill you for landing there.
