Leaderboard: Heart of Thorns vs. Knights of the Fallen Empire

With two giant MMO expansions releasing this month, it seems only natural that we take the opportunity to pit them against one another in our weekly Leaderboard poll. First up is Guild Wars 2 with its Heart of Thorns update, and let’s not forget about the Knights of the Fallen Empire expansion for Star Wars: The Old Republic.

Both patches feature new content additions and, in some cases, fairly radical changes to portions of their respective games, and while that’s all fine and dandy, what we really want to know is which expansion you, the MOP community, like the best.

Vote after the cut!

Leaderboard: Heart of Thorns vs. Knights of the Fallen Empire

  • Heart of Thorns (51%, 719 Votes)
  • Knights of the Fallen Empire (49%, 682 Votes)

Total Voters: 1,401

I’ll have to say SWTOR, I’ve played both when they first came out and enjoyed both for a time. I decided to give Star Wars another shot because I had never finished all the stories. I am so glad I did. I haven’t even started the new content, I’m playing the old stuff but with the new leveling experience and having a blast. They have tweaked nearly every aspect of the game with this expansion.  I understand that not everyone has the same taste in games, but if you somewhat enjoyed SWTOR when it came out, it’s time to give it another try. So glad I did!

hardy83 The gear is just for appearance now, the reason they mailed a bunch of gear to you is that players had deleted most companions original because they were not modable, but might have had a unique appearance.

tobascodagama A self respecting person would not but if all the comments I’ve read are true, there’s a lot people who just want their favourite game to win.

I can’t vote in good conscience. I haven’t touched SWTOR in a long time and this expansion doesn’t really change that. On the other hand, I’m overall disappointed with Heart of Thorns. The big thing for me being how paper thin the story is, both in length and depth.
Granted, KotFE has a stronger story, but I feel like Heavensward puts them both to shame.
(I’m still mostly playing GW2 right now, but that’s largely because I’ve needed time away from FFXIV.)

arktourosx TBPlayer2112 Was your comment meant for someone else? I wasn’t complaining about having to use Ascended gear anywhere. I’m running around the zones just fine in mostly exotic gear with only Ascended trinkets and rings that I got with laurels.

SWTOR for me, I’ve been playing TOR since beta October 2011 and have never stopped since then. KotFE and update 4.0 has been an awesome additions to the game. Even with the few missteps that have been taken by Bioware. I’ve tried GW 2 before and I just didn’t like it, felt the same way about GW 1 and I bought the Trilogy DVD back in the day. The GW world has always felt bland and generic to me. To be perfectly honest, If I wasn’t playing TOR. I’d probably be playing FFXIV: ARR.

Heart of Thorns has more longevity for me. Knights of the Fallen Empire, while great to run through the first time with a character, has really become a chore to play after completing the story.

I Never mentioned raids only mobs and events. Other people saying you need ascended gear never mentioned raids either and were commenting on the difficulty of new zones. Im sure you do need ascended gear for raids.
Me personally, I hate raids. Im not planning on raiding. Hate how it excludes people hate the whole concept much prefer open world bosses and events.
