Here’s how to use a factory in the Divergence alpha

10

Divergence Online creator Ethan Casner published a new YouTube video yesterday that focuses on the sci-fi sandbox’s factory implementation. Much like in the classic Star Wars: Galaxies on which Divergence is based, factories exist to mass produce crafted items and save the player tons of time by avoiding individual crafting. You’ll see some familiar sights if you’re an SWG vet, as the factories themselves look much as they did in SOE’s late Star Wars title, and portions of the interface have carried over as well.

There are some notable changes, though, which you can see in the video that we’ve embedded past the break.

Problem is I think people are suffering from backer burnout.  I know I am.  To date I’ve backed several games over the last 3-4 years and haven’t seen one actually release.  Star Citizen is creeping up on $100M from crowdfunding, and three years into it the game is at least a year out from a proper release.

Icnoevil They’ve had two others that totaled about $30,000 after paying the fees.  Compare that to the nearly $94 Million Star Citizen has pulled down.  I’d say it’s ok if they do fifty of these if they need to.

This is very very good.. harvesting by finding great resource percentages, saving up huge amounts of mats with the right properties, and mass producing via factories were the best parts of Galaxies.

Build the factory interface into the 3d factory model. #immersion
