Crowfall takes on the fine degrees of separation between bow users

That's a nice throne. Mind if I war over it?

You are not your weapon in Crowfall. Just because two archetypes use a bow in the game doesn’t mean that they play the same. The most recent video Q&A session with the development team goes into a bit more depth on this point discussing the Ranger and the Stalker. In short: The former makes use of traps and knocks people out of stealth, while the latter sneaks around and snipes. Same fundamental weapon, but the core archetype is very different, even with the options of disciplines to bring in some similarities.

The November set of answers also covers the question of formations on the battlefield, bodies of water, post-combat development focus, and fast travel options. Why take our word for all of it, though? You can watch the video just below and see an assortment of wigs along with the cold, hard data. Who doesn’t like wigs?

FeveredDreamer Absolutely hated it in GW2. By far my least favorite aspect of the game.

I actually didn’t realize there was so much disdain for underwater combat.  I mean it is far from my favorite thing, but I’ve always enjoyed it in GW2.

I love bows! I dislike traps and pets… So stalker will definitely be a better fit for me.

Stalker and Champion for me, I think the last spot will be some sort of support for me :)

I like it. I always liked how GW2 handled weapons being unique to classes. Not so much the weapon swapping cluster that it turned into. I would have liked much longer cooldown on weapon swaps (30 seconds+).

BalsBigBrother Yeah I like it to be an option, but not the only option.

Or another class which you use a longbow and become a sniper.

Or perhaps another class which you use a crossbow and duck out from a portable pavise.

BalsBigBrother The female ranger concept art at least shows her with a wolf companion.  Haven’t watched the video yet, but I thought that ranger was going to have the option for a wildlife pet.  Personally I like those, but can understand the aversion

BalsBigBrother Shadowbane rangers could charm pets but weren’t dependent on them. They couldn’t summon a pet unless you took a discipline rune to do so.

I haven’t watch the video yet but I see no mention of the usual ranger pet nonsense. Could it be an mmo that has two actual bow classes with no pets to get in the way … um help the ranger.  If so let me congratulate the dev team of this game for stepping away from all that nonsense unless of course you haven’t in which case boo to you :p
