Dogma: Eternal Night brings MMO vampires to Kickstarter

Do you need a game that’s so dark that if it were any darker it’d be a pure black rectangle on your monitor? Are you craving a mature-themed vampire MMO with some serious bite? Then perhaps Dogma: Eternal Night (previously called Project Dogmat) might be for you.

Developed by Prelude Games Factory, Dogma is picking up the dropped ball by the prematurely canceled World of Darkness and running with the themes of gothic horror, supernatural creatures, and a contemporary setting. The game promises the potential for permadeath, live events, and a world that reacts to player actions.

Dogma: Eternal Night will be launching its Kickstarter campaign on November 24th. In the meantime, the devs are improving the build, adding more GUI functionality, and adding more world interactions with objects. We’ve got the announcement trailer and early screenshots for you to ogle after the break!

Not worth it. I got banned from their Facebook page for posting my disappointment of them conveniently leaving their 9th kickstarter update post off of Facebook, where they speak of the business model. In that post they show their bias right from the gates, trash talking F2P and B2P models while praising P2P like it’s the second coming of christ. It was such a laughable post their argument against B2P model is charging people for expansion packs (which we all know is a regular thing in the games industry and is so common nobody argues against it), as if to suggest that with a P2P model that won’t happen (which I can already tell that they’ll still most likely charge for expansions, because, again, it’s such a common practice that NOBODY argues against it).

What do I get in response from the team? “donate $1 to our kickstarter and post your concerns there, and next time watch what you say. this is your “polite warning””.

P2P is going to be the death of a game that doesn’t have the fanbase to keep it afloat. I loved the WoD MMO and I wanted it badly to, but not enough to bend over to corruption like this.

Perma-night according to their FAQ.  So I guess there’s no need to concern ourselves with daylight. Can’t say I care for open world PvP if there is perma-death though.  It could just be me but it their website FAQ made it sound like continuing play as a human while possible wasn’t something they really expected anyone to do…   “No. All new characters start playing as mere mortals. Only after certain actions are committed, the player will be able to receive the “Embrace” and to turn into a vampire. However, it isn’t forbidden for the player to remain a human. ” Not “forbidden?”  Hrmm.. guess they probably aren’t planning for a Harker/Van Helsing human playstyle.

Astald melissaheather  So make it that you can only log out at a safe area? It would be brutal…but effective.

Not really impressed yet, but will watch this with bated breath.  I’ll totally play this if it’s in the vein of WoD (no pun intended).

Dogma: Eternal Night looks like a worthy successor to the World of Darkness franchise. Even if Paradox does a WoD video game, it will most likely be a single player PC game like VTM Bloodlines instead of a sandbox MMO like Dogma.

At least they sorted the name out and dropped the frankly ridiculous T :p

Gottphoenix Silverlock Well until Paradox at least confirm or deny whether an MMO is on the table in the forseeable future, there’s a lot of people who are now hesitant.
