ARK’s new giganotosaurus towers over the t-rex

Studio Wildcard has added a new dino to ARK: Survival Evolved. Finding, hunting, and taming the giganotosaurus requires top-of-the-line gear and skills, and it represents a late-game challenge for elite players and raiding tribes, according to Wildcard’s press release.

Fighting the new beast is not for the feint of heart, as its rage grows with each hit it takes, and extra rage means extra energy for its deadly bites and extra stamina. Today’s patch also adds swords and a set of primitive and modern shields designed for advanced melee combat usage.

Darthbawl SoMuchMass Spinosaurus was nothing like represented in JP3.   It was more like a giant crocodile than an upright T Rex type theropod.

From what I’m seeing the game / gameplay is almost irrelevant.   You’re in a world with bloody big, amazingly well animated and drawn dinos.  What’s not to like?  I need to get serious about getting this game.   screenshots are eyepopping to me.

SoMuchMass I think there are other more fantastic creatures as well, don’t they have dragons?

Looks like I’m going to have to pick this up…in December.  November is already put aside for Fallout 4 and D:OS:EE Honour Mode. ;)

rioinsignia Ark is definitely what I think of when I think of the ideal MMO when considering the things you do on the island. Unfortunately I think the playerbase in general is too broken for the PvP aspect to work properly. Probably from experiences in DayZ or Rust. But just going from a pure PvE experience, the game is still far superior to the questing.

To me, Ark has a fantastic foundation for a skill based multiplayer “MMO like” game.
I hope that someday they’ll use the same foundation to build games based on other genres (fantasy, sci-fi, etc).

Sythalin Big fan of ARK, but I do feel the devs have got a bit carried away with their own fantasies with Giganotosaurus.  Dino fans like myself are a bit unhappy that it is stupidly bigger than it was and on top of that it will have a massive impact on game balance, not least on primitive servers where stone structures are top tier and now very easy to take down by a griefing tribe with a Giga.

sdyaris You should Google the usage of “to” and “too” while you’re thinking about the site.
