The Daily Grind: Did BlizzCon make you want to resub to WoW?

It’s a running joke among MMO players that BlizzCon is bad for our wallets, not because we overindulge in murloc plushies but because resisting the allure of the resub is hard. Blizzard weaves a spell for two days straight, getting everyone pumped for World of Warcraft all over again, usually with promises of content and quality-of-life fixes that aren’t actually going to show up for another year.

But that nostalgia pull!

It’s a miracle that I didn’t cough up $15 this weekend, and were I not preoccupied with Heart of Thorns, I might have capitulated as I did last year and the years before that. I’d be dancing on a mailbox in Stormwind right now, is what I’m saying. Even MOP’s Justin Olivetti, who told me on this week’s podcast that he hasn’t played WoW hardcore since Wrath, said he was tempted to go back, even just for a moment.

How about you? Did BlizzCon make you want to resub to WoW? Did you preorder Legion and snag a freebie level 100, or are you more done than ever?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!

JoyceMoore What, precisely, are you talking about?

Nope, when Wow charged for a full expansion when they opened up Tanaan Jungle, that was a money grab imo. Since when did opening up a section of a world or continent become another paying expansion?  Sorry, Wow, I think you have seen my last dollar. Time to move on……

Not in the least.  Looks like further progression to a more casual game which doesn’t interest me in the least.  The only thing they could do at this point to get me back is open up legacy servers.

No, not for me. I had my time with the game and will always look back fondly at raid healing and progressing with my guild but ever since firelands the game has not been for me. Hope everyone else enjoys their time with Legion.

It did.  I bought Legion and picked my level 100 character.  The reason I’m playing it at all is thanks to the underwhelming expansions from SWTOR and GW2, SWTOR not being enough to take me past a day or 2 and GW2 for just making it impossible to solo anything in the new areas, so screw them.  But also, I want 1 of every class to 100 so that I can really enjoy the triple spec, artifact and pvp systems coming in Legion so now that’s my goal, to level the rest of the classes to 100 that I haven’t done yet.  Also, I want Overwatch really bad and I still think that if you sub you get priority over non subs when it comes to the beta send outs ;D

Considering that I quit back in mid-MOP and haven’t touched Warlords, I wouldn’t mind coming back. I’ve actually talked about it with my guild mates recently, and said I would come back to raid… so no, BlizzCon wasn’t the catalyst, my desire to raid with my pals again was the catalyst. I miss it. Most of my fondest MMORPG memories have been progression raiding in WoW, and the feeling of fun, accomplishment and camaraderie that brings. ;)

neserbohy I really don’t think they will shut the game down anytime soon. It’s still the largest MMO.
