Camelot Unchained’s merchandise proceeds go directly to development

Camelot Unchained has partnered with Merchline to produce an assortment of t-shirts, hoodies, posters, and the like, all of them related to the crowdfunded RvR fantasy sandbox MMO.

The store FAQ page has all of the pertinent details, including where exactly your money is going. “Every dollar in profits from the sale of swag will go directly to the development of this game, and nothing else. That’s why we are doing it this way,” it explains. “Returns, staff, pick and pack, are not our problem or expense. We wanted the cleanest possible method to both sell swag and help meet the current and upcoming stretch goals for the game.”

Karl_Hungus Zulika_Mi_Nam I sit and watch Vikings with a tablet by my side, pausing to google up people and places in separate tabs to research later.  I later dive into the details to learn the reality (as far as we know at this point anyway) behind what is presented on the show.  I would wager that I have spent an equal (or more) amount of time reading about the actual history as I have watching the show.

I have learned a crapton about what occurred around the the viking ages through this process – so the show should gets a lot of credit for igniting that spark from me (a redneck American that can only confidently trace his heritage back to indentured servants that were assumingly from the York area of England – based on surnames).
The show is produced by a studio out of Wicklow, Ireland with production ties back to Canada, so not Hollywood itself, but I fully understand what you are saying.  I have also read interviews in which the creators speak of the liberties they take in the name of entertainment and while that may slip past most it does not slip past all of us.

The email from Mark and crew was long and there was the usual artwork etc in it. I missed at the very bottom after Mark’s sign off that there was a FAQ that clarified that information. :) As I edited into my post within 3 minutes of posting it that you apparently missed. I guess I’m not the only one who doesn’t always read the whole thing. :)

Mark Jacobs Was waiting till Mark, next to me, finished furiously typing. I can attest that we spent lots of time focusing on quality from shirt types to who we partnered with. The entire focus was on customer service the entire time. We all had assignments to take shirts home, throw them through multiple washes, and provide feedback. Personally, I’m proud of the time we spent on this process.

Morning all!

Thanks for the coverage, as always, Jef and MOP!

The store is off to a good start, and I’m really proud that we have put more effort into taking care of our Backers through things like free-form bundling (lower price + lower shipping), pre-sale discount (since we are not buying the items till the pre-sale ends), and an additional discount to all non-US Backers due to, among other things, the strength of the US dollar. Not many companies do all these things at the same time (I haven’t seen any yet, but I’m sure some have), especially when the profits from sales go to the game’s development. So, yeah, I’m really happy that our Backers have liked what they have seen so far.

If all goes well with Merchline, we’ll be adding more stuff next year. I just want us to get the design->production->fulfillment pipeline working properly before we put up more stuff. You folks know me, build the foundation first right? :)

Another class reveal will happen today at 3PM, as usual.

CU there and I’ll be lurking around here a bit too.

Karl_Hungus Zulika_Mi_Nam You gotta admit Travis Fimmel is awesome as Ragnar, though, and they are using enough of the history and legend to keep their fiction in an allegorical context.  yeah, it’s kinda intentionally and gratuitously “adult” and game-of-thronesy sometimes…
