Portalarium published Update of the Avatar #151 this morning. It dives deep into Shroud of the Avatar, and it offers readers a look at everything from the making of the North Naryad Pinelands zone to the new flute musical instrument to clockwork pets and a hot air balloon.

There’s also a video postmortem of Release 23 featuring Richard Garriott, Starr Long, Scott Jennings, and other members of the fantasy sandbox’s dev team. You can view that after the cut.

vicariousfan mindshadow McSleaz I’d tend to agree but with a caveat:  as the game progresses more towards completion (more completed features, more content), the Early Access price can go up accordingly.  By Beta, it should reach its current full price.  But that’s just how I’d do it.

mindshadow McSleaz seeing how massive this game is and the fact they have yet to miss an update its  worth it.

I don’t like the fact that you can buy housing with real cash. I loved Ultima Online when I was younger, and getting a house/castle/keep was a point of pride. Now, they’ve just turned it into a revenue stream. It cheapens the whole experience when you can just purchase them with your credit card.

McSleaz I don’t agree…and I’m probably never buying the game btw.

A cheap buy in means they get tons of ppl playing the game way before it’s finished who then burn out and leave long before it launches. And from those people they got next to nothing money wise and probably a lot of negative comments about it being unfinished and the normal nonsense.

If you really want to play this game in it’s early access state…you’ll pay for it. If it’s just something you want to give a try and you don’t really care that much about, making you wait is a smart move for them.

I just read that there is a lot of pay stuff ingame, is that true?

McSleaz Yeah, $45 for a super Early Access title is just too much.  Wait till it goes on sale.  The most I’ve seen was a 50% discount recently.

They need to talk about a price drop, cause $50 is fckn ridiculous.

Getting better and better each month…but they’re still at least a year (or two) away from being done…
