SMITE previews Ragnarok Force X Thor and a bit of the Japanese pantheon

Animes is the same.
While you collect all of the items in the current SMITE Odyssey, you know that they’re building toward a specific reward once they’re all yours. So what’s this year’s reward? Well, the Japanese pantheon is heading to the game in the near future, so the designers added a bit of modern Japan to the game by making Thor a rampaging mecha pilot.

A new video just below shows off the process of making the Ragnarok Force X Thor skin, complete with a detailed look at both the “pilot” and “mecha” forms of the character. There are also hints and teases about the Japanese mythological characters being added to the game along the way. It’s a short video, and well worth watching if you’re on track to a clean sweep of the Odyssey items but want to see what you’re getting.

cursedseishi Yeah I know about the Gundam Hammer weapon, lol.  The Turn-A even uses it and it’s just a spike ball swung around on a chain.
Master Gundam skin for Ravana would be pretty badass though.  Would say God/Burning or the Shining Gundam, but those wouldn’t really fit as well on him.
Could also maybe do some sort of RX-78-ish Bellona or something where she whips out several different weapons.

I spent way too much on the last odyssey and it also kinda ruined smite for me. A fun game but felt guilty spending so much on it, ended up quitting it by the end of it and never even using the thanatos skin.

@Sorenthaz
Well, while a flail technically the RX-78 (aka original series Gundam) had a weapon called the Gundam Hammer. Though that appears to be a trait in general, as several other gundams using a weapon called a “hammer” we’re also technically flails as well.
It is pretty weird that nothing uses an actual hammer though… They got axes, flails, swords, knives, whips, scythes, great swords, heck if you go into G-Gundam there’s scarves and even fists as weapons…!

kgptzac The gundam style suit thing is an alternative skin for Thor – so not a deity or anything, just an alternate appearance for an existing god. The alternate skins generally do not respect lore or anything and are purely cosmetic.

Excuse my ignorance here… I thought this game’s characters are deities and only deities? So this implies mobile suits are being worshiped… by whom?  Maybe they should add various asian idol groups because logic.

McGuffn I heard that there’s literally a minority who rants about the lack of Abrahamic representation in this game. What I wouldn’t give to hear a story about Jesus slaying his foes with force choke… Alas, I think the winter holiday celebration fits quite well with northern european paganism, I’m sure if Muhammed or Jesus had ever seen snow or santa in their lifetime, they would be pleased.

Sorenthaz That’s lame, reminds me of the BS with Neverwinter locking the dragon race behind a $100 bundle of stuff.
Do not like when individual cash shop items like skins are locked behind wildly expensive bundles and there’s no way to purchase them on their own : /

If a Starbucks cup is part of the War on Christmas I wish people would take a look at this game. The lack of any Jesus representation continues to be appalling. He’s the reason for the season and you’re just pretending he doesn’t exist and shoehorning in Voltron Thor and some Japanese gods instead. What is Merry about that?
