Daybreak gifts two weeks of All-Access membership to EverQuest II returnees

Almost everyone knows that EverQuest II’s newest expansion launched last week, but what you might not realize is that the very same day, Daybreak launched an initiative to entice players to return to the game. A number of long-absent players were granted two free weeks of All-Access membership (if you’re missing yours, check your spam folder) just in time for a long holiday weekend!

If you haven’t logged into EQII for a while, it might be worth doing so now. Until December 2nd at 2:59 a.m. EST, the flagged accounts have full membership benefits, including double alternate currencies, bonus looted coin, faster mount speeds, access to the progression servers (Isle of Refuge, here we come!), and 10% off all purchases — including Terrors of Thalumbra.

And because All-access covers Daybreak’s other launched games as well, players can enjoy membership benefits in DC Universe Online, EverQuest, and PlanetSide 2, with the exception of the 500 free Daybreak coins that are granted with month-long subscriptions. You can check your account’s status by logging into your account management on the official site; you can also see the membership benefits buff icon when in game.

Feydakin The whole point was it went to EQII accounts that hadn’t been logged into for months. My alt account got it as well.

I was randomly thinking about re-upping for the new expansion last night, but I just couldn’t bring myself to endure all the re-loading and patching. Then, today, I read some of the comments about Daybreak’s service below, and I’m glad I decided to play something else instead.

MikeMinier ChockFull my 2 cents:  EQ2’s engine was made to be scalable and it has done exactly that.  The game you see today is greatly enhanced from the game that launched.
All that being said, this scalability and improve-ability has limitations because the game engine from back then can’t do the stuff from right now.   So yes, although it can look pretty decent for a game of its age, it runs terribly at those settings and resolutions.

ChockFull MikeMinier Except I don’t play games for the graphics.  My two current MMO’s are Marvel Heroes and LotRO.  Neither of those are exactly graphical showcases but guess what?  They are fun, and they don’t run like shit.  I could care less what EQ2 looks like.  I never said anything about EQ2 looking better.  I stated specifically that I like performance, not graphics.  So whatever horse you rode in on, you know what do with it.

Oh, and I am far from the only person who thinks they could have updated the engine a long time ago.  Google “everquest 2 performance”…..or don’t, I really don’t care.  And as for linking my benchmark, it is a hell of a lot faster than typing my specs out, which is why I keep a bookmark on my phone.  So I have a decent pc, sue me.

I received this email, but when I patched up and logged in I did not have the offered All Access.

I contacted customer support and was told, rather unbelievably for a promotion designed to lure lapsed players back, that I had been sent the email in error.  I can only assume from Daybreak’s answer that they do not want me back.

Good job Daybreak in doing what old SoE never managed, even at their worst when they tried to sell me as a Euro player to ProSabien (or whatever they were called), and convincing me never to touch another one of your games.

MikeMinier Your rig unable to be fully utilized with EQ2 speaks nothing about the game itself. You would have been better off just to say ” I play games now for the graphics so I won’t be playing EQ2″  instead of your long winded soapbox statement. There are plenty of eye candy games that are complete garbage, but hey! it looks good, right? I must say, I haven’t seen this kind of self ego stroking, complete with benchmark link no less, in long while on this site. Your type creeps up now and again.

Heh.   Sounds like my experience with Turbine.  Cannot for the life of me get them to properly send my account reset info via e-mail.  Can get e-mail from Turbine support just fine; but nothing from the account system.

Well, MJ is a regular EQ2 player and streamer.  So if anyone should know about this in a timely fashion, it should have been her.

I had just recently started playing again (as Silver) and suddenly I had the All-Access buff and I could sell on the broker (and use it remotely). I still haven’t received an email as far as I can tell. Now I know it’s an official thing and not a glitch.
