Otherland adds Wood Isle zone, raises level cap

The 5Isle area of Otherland has grown significantly bigger this week with the addition of Wood Isle, a new area brimming with missions and challenges. The new forest zone includes 70 quests and plenty of dangers, with monsters lurking in the dark and a demonic threat.

November 27th’s patch also increased the level cap to 55 and tinkered with the combat system. “The developers have focused on improving combat by rebalancing the damage and healing system. Combat is now more challenging, strategical and enjoyable for all players,” the announcement stated.

Otherland is 50% off until December 1st on Steam.

PaganRites Radfist DPandaren Except you are talking about Steam reviews.  Those people only have less than 3 months.

Radfist PaganRites DPandaren The game’s been around much longer.  Was just bought by Drago after a failed attempt by another company.

PaganRites DPandaren A year ago? They only did paid early access (essentially launch) from 11 September 2015.  The progress in that time has been pretty reasonable, but I admit the combat needs work.  Also Steam has it at 7/10 stars, which isn’t bad for its current state. 225 positive reviews vs 95 negative reviews, and the vast majority of negative reviews are based on people who had queue issues / login issues at launch.

DPandaren PaganRites I compared the Steam reviews to the official forums complaints and they are too similar to be discounted. It’s the same thing over and over.  Things that were broke a year ago still broke now.  I’m really interested in this game but I’ll probably wait 6 months to see how the dev house that took over the game does with it.  It has tons of potential.  I hope Drago can mold Otherworld into a good MMO.

At this stage of the development game is unplayable and mainly due to badly implemented combat. I do hope they focus on that and fix it cause the graphics, new zones and general feel of the game is definitely unique. I keep my fingers crossed for Otherland but please, please fix this combat or we will have another Secret World situation.

The combat was unbearable.

PaganRites Steam reviews are like that for a lot of games that aren’t big named. People are just super mad that for some reason, early access and it being a WIP just makes it past them. Which I can kind of understand, but it’s not like the developer hasn’t been putting out updates on a fairly regular basis.

I got this when it went up on Steam and it’s definitely unique with the way the world works. The combat system is really rough and honestly kinda bad though, I just wish they’d actually fix that instead of adding more content.

Developer adds new content, then proceeds to slow the consumption of new content by raising the level. Thereby giving the illusion of more content than there really is.

This game is not bad at all, like a virtual without using glasses.
