AdventureQuest 3D retools flash game into cross-platform MMO

For 13 years, AdventureQuest has provided a 2-D solo experience for Artix Entertainment’s fans. Now the game is due for a major upgrade, as Artix has launched a Kickstarter campaign to create a 3-D MMO version of its long-running title.

AdventureQuest 3D purports to be a cross-platform, fully 3-D MMO that can be played on PC, tablets, and smartphones. Players can mix-and-match classes and fight in real-time combat across an ever-expanding fantasy world. The team places an emphasis on getting players together to have fun (sidekicking is a standard feature here) and promises a lot of future updates.

The MMO adaptation has been in development for 11 months and is looking to raise $200,000 to cross the finish line for release. The team is also encouraging supporters to vote to get the title greenlit on Steam. We’ve got the trailer and a virtual reality fly-through for AdventureQuest 3D after the break!

I am not familiar with this at all so I don’t see what’s special about it, but obviously people are excited so I threw a little Greenlight vote their way.

I remember playing this ages ago and becoming a Werewolf.  Fun times.  Had a lot of goofy moments and the turn-based RPG combat wasn’t too shabby, plus there was a bunch to explore and whatnot.  Might have to give the 3D version a look.

Adventure Quest got me into RPGs, and Artix got me into game design. Hell yeah I’m backing this!

Always enjoyed AQ, I loved the silliness and over all fun that they manged to put into the game. I kind of wish they avoided the Mobile versions though as it looks like the overall quality might suffer in order to keep it optimized for Mobile. They are definitely worth backing though!

Hope they won’t turn this into a online shop of cosmetics like AQW.

I backed this.  I always felt like this was the ‘little company that could’.  Biting off a lot here but rooting for them!
