The Stream Team: Play-testing the rest of Paladins’ champions

11

The first time MassivelyOP’s MJ delved into Paladins, she was wasn’t able to try out all the various champions. She didn’t manage to play Grohk, the lightning orc; Fernando, the self-appointed knight; or Buck, the human warrior. And of the ones MJ has played, Ruckus and Cassie appealed to her most. So which character is going to be her favorite moving forward as she gets ready to dive into more live matches? Tune in live at 2:00 p.m. to find out which champion steals her heart.

What: Paladins
Who: MJ Guthrie
When: 2:00 p.m. EST on Tuesday, December 1st, 2015

The show is over now, but we’ve embedded it here just for you. Don’t forget to check out past streams and playlists posted to our videos collection!

Armsbend Sorenthaz Also I guess when I think about it there are definitely chokepoints, but there are several angles that you can still get into a control point from to where you often want to split out as a group.  It’s good in that you can’t just hold a chokepoint and be locked out from getting access to the control point, but it’s not very good for the short/mid-range dudes who have to get up close and are often in the frontline.

Sorenthaz yar, just kicking around ideas.  like I said , i like the game.  I’ll probably play it second to OW and a probable founder pack purchase will be in my cards.

get it?  CARDS.

Armsbend Sorenthaz I mean it is just the early design so things are almost certainly bound to change/improve (I’d hope).   But right now the maps are open and spacious yet there isn’t much strategy beyond “get to the active control point and kill the enemy team.”  With the only real strategy being flanking and working together as a team.

Sorenthaz that is a big minus to OW/tf2 imho then.  If Blizz are good at anything to mothertruckers know how to make a map.

Armsbend Sorenthaz Paladins maps doesn’t even really have chokepoints.  Just flank points or being stuck in the base when you’re pushed in by a siege engine.

Quincha Sorenthaz Well like they’ve said the art isn’t finalized and models and everything could be updated/improved on in the future.  Maybe the Archer/Orc not looking as in-depth or whatnot because they were designed earlier while Fernando (the knight) was designed more recently.  Who knows.   If it’s anything like Smite they’ll definitely be going back to update everything to a certain standard of quality as they keep upping the quality on new characters/environments/etc.

Sorenthaz or group exp to get cards/str faster.  the difference between this and tf2 seems to be that Tf2 has choke points strategically placed better imo.

Quincha They’ll likely improve the visuals and everything quite a bit.  And the first batch of champions are pretty much centered around various tropes (i.e. knight is a tanky close-range dude, there’s an Orc Shaman basically who’s the only real healer at the moment, Dwarf with turrets, agile/fragile character, stealth chick, archer gal, etc.).   So there’s bound to be more creative stuff coming in the future.

Armsbend Sorenthaz It’s not directly in the center per se, but yeah it’s basically centered around the control points placed in the middle/middle-left/middle-right of the map.

Sorenthaz good point.  huge map but the only action going on is directly in the center.  I’m enjoying the game though and I have faith HiRez will continue to improve it.
