A new video is available for the open beta of Monster Hunter Online over in China, which is something less than heartening for our readers who would like to play the game in English rather than Chinese. But there’s some good news on that front as well. There are no plans to actually localize the game officially, but Tencent representatives have discussed the possibility of an English patch, and they do not oppose it.
The downside, of course, is that this still requires community members interested in translating and patching the game without official support. But the fact that there are no planned IP blocks or other impediments ensures that a patch can happen. So maybe you should watch that trailer and get excited after all.

crackfox Who knows, but if it’s anything like DBO and PSO2’s fan translation patches there’ll be a rudimentary English patch that covers the UI elements within less than a month.
Armsbend Sorenthaz Damonvile Civ Online would likely bomb in the west just because of the hate that would be generated towards it by actual Civ fans, and I’ve a hunch it’s dev knows that and that’s why it’s not coming. It looks like it’s just a game that was made to bring the IP to the east

Looks a lot like a Lagombi from older MH games. It’s basically a giant rabbit just as this is a giant beaver. :D I would guess it behaves
rather similarly to the Lagombi as do Tigrex and Nargacuga/Barioth or
Yian Garuga and Yian Kut ku. Some monsters share their animations while still having unique moves.
How much translation is required? The game seems reasonably self-explanatory.  And I know a 巨大的海狸 when I see one.
Qarran The only thing you really do in this game is Boss Fights. 98% of missions are “go kill this thing”, and that thing is generally huge and awesome. There are smaller monsters of course, but they are mostly just there to annoy and distract :)
Sorenthaz let me do my knee-jerk reactions please.  GOOD DAY!
Qarran yea that’s one of the many bosses the game has.
Ok so with that its time to actually take a look at MHO. I live the series but saw bo point before in looking into a title that wasn’t comming to the West.
So the screen cap for this article… is that a giant beaver? Lol! Â Ok, I walking away slowly from that, but… is that like a boss fight?
Sorenthaz Damonvile I agree that is why it sounds like Civ Online – not a great product so they hold it from the west.  No matter, I really have pared down my gaming to just the best and brightest atm if they can’t be bothered; I can’t be bothered.  Cheers!
