Funcom has just announced that it’s creating a new video game based on the Conan franchise.
Funcom is excited to announce that the company has entered into an agreement with Conan Properties, making it the preferred partner for all PC and console games based on the ‘Conan the Barbarian’ brand and the world of Hyboria. The two companies have already enjoyed a long and prosperous relationship, having successfully brought to market Funcom’s critically acclaimed massively multiplayer online game ‘Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures‘ back in 2008. […]Â As Funcom communicated earlier this year, the company will be announcing three new games in 2016. The first of these games will be based on the ‘Conan the Barbarian’ brand and will be announced to the public in January next year.
That would be the existing MMORPG, Age of Conan, one of four in Funcom’s stable. In fact, Age of Conan’s community team rushed to reassure players that the MMO is not being left in the dust:
What does that mean for you all in Age of Conan? Moving forward, one thing we want to make clear is that we are committed to the continued development of Age of Conan into 2016 and beyond. We are all excited to be gaining a Game Director and expanding our development team in the near future! The development of the new Conan game will not interrupt any development on Age of Conan.
The new project will be produced by a different team within Funcom; the current development of Age of Conan will not be impacted. The PvE and PvP arena system will come to fruition. The raid finder will be unleashed. We are evaluating our membership system at a fundamental level, working to increase overall convenience and accessibility for rookies and veterans alike–including Khitai access for owners of RotGS. We hear you!
We still don’t know what Funcom’s other two new games will be.

neserbohy His family, most likely.
“We are evaluating our membership system at a fundamental level, working to increase overall convenience and accessibility for rookies and veterans alike–including Khitai access for owners of RotGS. We hear you!”
That should be news unto itself.
The dead horse has risen from the grave!
Wow! a new Conan game, awesome. As of now the only Conan game worth playing is AoC. I am actually excited about the prospect of another Conan game, if it will do justice to the IP. Com’on Funcom, you can do it!
neserbohy Ehm, using public works is ‘stealing’? Really?
Koshelkin jonny_sage none taken. the only think keeping it alive as is the people playing on the Blood and Glory PVP ruleset server. the concept is already a proven one.
Funcoms new Conan games will not be MMOs.
neserbohy While the R.E.H stories are public domain, the rights to his characters likeness, and the rights to create new stories for his characters, is held by the Conan Properties group. Â In fact, this has been exploited at least once that I know of:Â http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3153498/Â
Based on the short story Iron Shadows in the Moon, they can legally make the movie because it’s in the public domain. Â If they wanted to create a new story, Conan Properties could sue them for copyright infringement.
Make sense? Â No? Â Of course not!
Merry Christmas everyone!

You
obviously haven’t played the game at a high level at all. There are 5
directional attacks, max, and that’s just for the melee classes and
ranger, the rest don’t have to bother with them at all. Every class also
have more than enough combos, and quite a lot of stuff to click
compared to most modern MMOs. “Not bothering with sequences”?
Hilarious, I cannot imagine anyone even reaching max lvl with that kind
of noobishness.
AoC has a lot problems despite being a
great game, but the combat system is not one of them. It’s one of the
most, if not the very most, fun systems in any MMO.
OMFG AOC2 this is AMAIZING!!!!
