That is not necessarily a bad thing. Traveling, communicating with vendors, visiting player shops.  This is a good thing to do as it encourages and helps create social interactions.  It it like searching for and finding that one butcher who knows just the right way to make the cuts you enjoy at a great price.  That becomes your butcher for years….well the same thing would happen to finding the right craftsperson with the right shop, right price, and right quality items.

Besides, Mark mentioned they’ll have item tags (i.e. “made by ******”).  That helps because players who ask others in their Realm or Guild where they received an item or who crafted it can find the crafter a lot easier.

Siphaed Reetin  Yes, it did have a durability system. Basically exactly how it sounds, it would go from generally like 100 down to 0 and you had to get it repaired and such before it broke. They changed it up quite a bit with A Realm Reborn.
The comment I was making was that while it sounds like a great idea on paper, it worked really poorly because Final Fantasy XIV had it poorly implemented. They needed an Auction House of some sort because the way they had it initially in the game was the worst thing ever. There was no way to search for items in the original version of Final Fantasy XIV so you had to go to every single bazaar and individually search through them in order to find out which person had the best deal for a particular item. Also, there were like 20 different zones where people could sell whatever they wanted. So you would just see a whole lot of people standing there, selling stuff, with no indication of what they were selling.

Deepfred I am SO looking forward to crafting in CU, so look me up when you start playing and you can provide me protection while I provide you with equipment!  :-D

Unfortunately I missed the livestream, but I’ll be hunting it down to watch this weekend.

Did FFXIV have item decay/repair requirements too?  From my understanding for FFXIV -a PvE game- is BiS items comes from dungeons and raids, not player crafted.    So without decay/destruction of gear, without heavy repair costs with a mandatory crafting requirement, there’s no point to the player store fronts.     A store front is to sell goods to other players who constantly need goods.  A one-and-done system of items is not good for that at all.

Can’t wait not to craft in CU (hate crafting), but I really can’t wait to RvR in your game sir.
Glad to see you aren’t spending your development budget on overly produced fluff videos =)

Siphaed  Player Store Fronts! No Auction House! Worked so well for Final Fantasy XIV.

Like the idea of PCA’s (Player Character Apprentices), but not so much on the non-PCA’s (basically NPC Apprentices). Although it does have the limitations of costing more than PCA’s with added surge pricing during ‘prime time’, I still see this as a crutch.  NPC companions -essentially what these are- do heavily take away from social interaction in MMOs.  I’m really hoping that the prime time prices are like 2x that of just a normal PCA.

Player store fronts!  No auction house!   Gosh, this sounds so awesome.  Would mean that travel is kind of required for purposes of interacting with player stores to find better sellers, better prices, better goods varieties.

QUESTIONS!:
No mention of mailing system and any trade system related to it.    I don’t suppose players can start to manipulate the store markets by just mailing items to players across the Realm on CoD?  Basically as a way to bypass travel requirements?  Or how friends would mail things to and from each other too?   Will mailing systems be in every city at ever street corner (with or without a dancing Dwarf on it)?Is there possibility of griefing with relation to Caravans and blocking paths (i.e. bridge blocking in ArcheAge
(Might have more pop into head later)

Loved the part said “Oh, and Gold Sellers, the hell with you!’  saying that they can’t simply purchase store fronts to peddle their goods. Well said!

Syppi Mark Jacobs Yep. This time, we’re making the system I’ve laid out, and it will get the resources it needs to succeed, unlike WAR.

So, I’m behind on this … like really behind.  Is the game playable yet?  Like, listening to the livestream makes me want to play right NAO (assuming the $$ fits).  But I don’t know if its possible yet.  My gut says sno
