As it heads into the new year, Shroud of the Avatar has grand plans in store for the first few months. In its most recent newsletter, Portalarium discusses what’s coming in the first quarter of 2016.

In addition to pumping out monthly updates, Shroud of the Avatar is gearing up for what looks to be an important summer milestone: “The focus of the first quarter of 2016 is to get us as close to alpha/feature-complete as possible as soon as we can. However we are balancing that alpha goal with polish, performance, and service hardening to prepare for our final wipe as soon as mid-summer.”

If you’re in Shroud of the Avatar and looking for something to do over the holidays, there’s always the new grand tour to get a spiffy new hat. Check out the guide below!

LordSolarMacharius Agreed, there seems to be more cash shop addons added per patch than there is actual new content or features. Shame really. It’s cool they want to expand the stuff in the game, but not EVERYTHING in the game that is new needs to be a cash shop addon. So far anything involved with housing seems to be cash shop oriented.

Great. Maybe if they spend as much time developing the game as they do on expanding the cash shop, this game might see release soon. Every mail I get from them about the project it just seems like the cash shop is their primary focus and keeps diminishing what the original $80 USD pledge I gave them for the Kickstarter is really giving me, besides a big middle finger.

I’m digging the travel system tbh. It hides the fact that the game is heavily instanced by creating an open world illusion via this travel map. I would say my main concern blocking me from giving money to this game is the character and combat animations. It currently looks very outdated and clunky. I am confident that the devs will polish the animations, but knowing myself i will get turned off as soon as i spend more than 5 minutes with clunky animations. As soon as a design closer to launch-quality is released, i will be more than ready to jump in.
