Devilian takes a look at the successes and failures of its launch month

From this point it looks so easy.

The first month of operation is a tumultuous time for any new title. Devilian feels as if it were just announced, but it launched back on December 10th, and the community has been plowing through its content along the way. The newest producer’s letter for the game takes a look at the overall launch environment, which was positive aside from the rather significant rollback on the Seadrift server.

Rather than coasting after a successful launch, the game is planning its first major content update in January. Exact features of the patch have yet to be announced; class PvP balance is going to be examined in the same month. It’s a positive letter overall, which should be good news for players who have enjoyed the post-launch environment.

TJFrenchJr I think ArcheAge is a solid game with a rough start.  Everyone was super excited for the game until the bad launch.  Hard to gain that back.  Devilian isn’t terrible by any means but it’s not top notch either.  No worries either way.
Merry Christmas!

That’s what is sadest though. They took the time to localize it and bring it over and couldn’t even bring the spit and polish they give their own games. It damages their brand. It brings down their own games, like Trove and rift, if they keep bringing over archages and this. It’s by association. Devilian is Trion to me and others. They can’t keep half assing these.
Merry Christmas. That’s my whole piece on this. *wave*

Watched a good bit of streams on this title and walked the other direction.

TJFrenchJr  They didn’t develop the game.  They just ported and published it.  You’ll notice the games they do develop are much better games…ie. RIFT and Trove.  No one said it’s not a “real” product because they’ll still make money from it.  Its just a small f2p title to fill the small f2p arpg crowd.

boredinBC Ceder You know it’s bad too when a developer/producer refuses to stream their own products any more.

I watched this title but never bought into it because “once bitten twice shy” Archeage taught me that concerning Trion, P2W and how things would be handled.

For me this game was done before it even launched.

That’s a sad reply if true. Why waste time and resources developing it if it’s not intended to be a real product?

blackcat7k Crackjaw For all of its problems Guild Wars 2 has a good business model. It doesn’t encroach on the game and you don’t feel like you are going to get ahead by using the cash shop to get there.

That’s where f2p games have problems at is the power of money in their games.

Say that to people with full +8/9 artifacts.
