Triad Wars will sunset on January 20th, 2016

Here’s a bit of unfortunate news for Christmas: Triad Wars is closing down.

“Since the start of the Triad Wars Closed Beta this year, diligent Enforcers have run rampant through the streets of Hong Kong, killing rivals and building Empires. During this time we have gathered immense amounts of feedback, information, and data on the game. We’ve loved seeing how you’ve played Triad Wars but we know it wasn’t right for many of you so we’re letting you know today that we are going to close the beta and service on January 20th 2016 at 12 p.m. Pacific Standard Time. That’s 4 weeks from today and over this time we’re going to leave the game up and running for you to continue to enjoy but we will not be accepting any more purchases. To help you enjoy these final 4 weeks we’re going to make Gold available free of charge and we’ll shortly be posting news on the forums about how to deal with refunds of unused Gold. Thank you very much for all the testing, feedback and support!”

The game had been in beta since earlier this year.

Got into the beta by getting a key somehow (I think it was from MMORPG.com)  I had a good time for about a week, but it was just so repetitive.  I thought it had some potential, but I never went back to see if anything had changed.  And it was designed for use with a gamepad, which I am horrible at using, so that turned me off a bit too.

People paid to get into the beta of this game?  If so, fuck this company if they don’t reimburse those people.  Another story of a company thinking they could succeed on “paid promises” and a game not completed.

This is why my resolution for 2016 is to not buy any “early access” or “paid alpha/beta” game…

Always meant to give this a go, but I knew that this would be coming. Them doing a F2P spinoff made little sense, and after the initial big announcement everything pretty much just fizzled, as happens with a lot of “COME PLAY AND PAY FOR EARLY BETA!” for games, especially those based off of moderately sized IP’s (Dead Island moba, EA moba etc.)
Shame, because I enjoyed the hell out of Sleeping Dogs.

I played this a few times in beta. I had been waiting for the rest of the city to open up. Oh well.
I needed some refinements but I guess they just didn’t have the resources to change them.
I streamed it a few times on my Twitch channel.

It was a really cool bit of dlc for sleeping dogs that was poorly attempted to be spun out into a full title.

I was in the Alpha in the end it wasn’t much of a loss because it wasn’t very good.

Never heard of it until now, I looked it up and it seems to have some quite decent production values behind it.
At least in the visuals.

I didn’t even know this thing existed.

I think I saw a gameplay video not long ago. That sure was a short run, guess GTA online was so much better?
