Did Guild Wars 2 just tease gliding in vanilla Tyria?

During today’s Guild Wars 2 livestream, ArenaNet‘s Rubi Bayer demoed a video of a character flying… in what looks like Orr. Malchor’s Leap, to be precise. Only Orr is in vanilla Tyria, not in the expansion areas to which gliding has heretofore been limited. Is gliding on the way for the rest of the game too?

Sigh. For me Gliding in Central Tyria is a a complete gut punch. I HATE the changes HoT has brought to the game.
This is partially due to my system being so old & slow that it had trouble rendering everything in a timely fashion before.
(Trying to glide with massive lag sucks) 
For me the bed music for this video might as well been the VonTrapp Family Singers.

If they are allowing gliding in some or all of vanilla Tyria then they’re probably also adding features that make use of it.  For one thing, most of the zones don’t even have much in the way of high points to be able to get a decent glide out of.  
It wouldn’t make any sense for them to add jumping mushrooms to the rest of the world but I can certainly see updrafts.  It would take very little development effort to put in some strategic updrafts that add gliding puzzles or the like to the world without letting you get to places that the zone wasn’t designed for.
It would only take a little more design effort to add areas high above the current landscape, creating new zones without nearly as much landscape design.  There’s even a precedent for that, thanks to the Goemm’s Lab jumping puzzle in Metrica Province.
